Todoroki insists that they're too worn out for a rescue mission while Uraraka keeps pushing for it. She doesn't want to admit that she's near exhaustion. That her adrenaline is running out. It means defeat and she doesn't want to give up. She doesn't want anyone to do that. Kendo is all for trying to save him and so is Deku. Bakugo wants to give it a try as well. Tokoyami on the other hand expresses that he wants to give it a try but is willing to retreat if the situation is too dire.
Uraraka realizes she's facing a dilemma she didn't think would arise. Her hope was that they'd all collectively agree on saving Kaminari.
"We're not waiting on some help that might not arrive! Kami could be out of time already. He's counting on us to save him!" She uses her voice to try a hand at convincing the rest.
They take silent glances at each other. An uncertainty hands in the air. Their time to argue could be running out depending on what's happening to Kaminari.
Todoroki lets out a big sigh, "Do you even know where he's being held?"
The question hits her like a truck. Her brain was so focused on getting them to trust her that she'd dismissed creating a plan. Their only lead for where Dabi and Toga could have taken Kaminari was at the wall. It's not like they'd keep him in the same spot. Would they be expecting a rescue anyway?
She shakes her head and a gloominess falls over the group. How would they be able to find him if they had no idea where to look? It's not as though they have the energy to look either.
Reality sets in for them all.
Kaminari would have to wait until help was here.
It's a truth that they don't want to accept but it gnaws at the back of their minds like an itch you can't scratch. The silence continues at a steady pace.
Without speaking up, Todoroki starts walking away hopping that the rest will get the unspoken hint and follow. Slowly they start to leave their spot outside of the school's window one by one. At first Uraraka hesitates, her mind still running a million miles a second. Deku and Kendo stay with her as the others walk ahead.
"I feel the same way Uraraka but if we get help now we'll still have time to save Kaminari." Kendo says putting her hand on the other girl's shoulder.
It's not like her and Kaminari were close friends but the idea that she would have to leave someone behind stings. Deku and Kendo usher her away from the broken shards of glass. Broken similar to Uraraka's shattered heart.
They reach the wall without any obstacles. It's as though the area is quieting down. Were the villains leaving like it was some kind of finale or was it another sick trick to get them cornered again? Their brains were too depleted to register those thoughts properly. The only goal in mind the grey wall. It's in their sights. Almost close enough to touch.
They hadn't decided on an exact order of getting over the wall but they do have a few ideas on how to get Todoroki back up. They're not the most pleasant sounding. Its between having someone hold his tongue as he pulls himself up or by using a tree branch. The branch wouldn't be nearly as gross to handle as the actual tongue.
Two steps later, they're close enough to the staggering wall.
"Who's first?" Todoroki asks looking over the battered and bruised students.
No one votes for themselves as the first pick. Their selfless qualities shining through despite the tense situation. To stop the argument before it gets a chance to take off, Kendo offers up herself. The unusual feeling of a large tongue wrapped around her waist is hard to get used to but it isn't one she experiences for long.
Kendo goes over followed by Deku, Bakugo, Tsu, and Tokoyami. Uraraka stands with her arms crossed and her head down. Todoroki gestures her way to get her wanting attention.
"Before any of them show up." He says.
With her teeth clenched, she speaks, "Go ahead without me. I'm not leaving here unless I have Kaminari with me."
He pleads for her to come along, that they're worsening his chances of survival by going after him without help. It's the only thing he can think so say. His strength is failing as well but by getting her across he'd be able to take a hard earned breath.
She shakes her head, starting off in the opposite direction. Was there any use in chasing with her mind mind so set on one idea? A threat could be approaching on them soon. Their 'grand' escape would be compromised.
Uraraka continues to walk. He bears down on his teeth as she does this. As he glances back to her, then the wall, he makes up his mind.
He grabs onto a branch.
In one motion, he swings over.
Hagakure and Mina wait on the other side with the police and fire department ready for a fight.
So... that's it. It's over. As many awesome points as you think you deserve today. (Which is a lot) What did you think of the story overall?
