We both decided after making sure Roger was long gone we needed a bath and we could finally put the cute date I planned to use. I was happy after a terrible day, I could be with Axton and not have to worry about anything happening to me. I dressed in pajama shorts and a hoodie that almost ended the same length as the shorts.

"Hi," I announced my entrance into the kitchen. Axton seemed bothered and stressed, leaning on the counter with a glass in his hand. Suddenly feeling thirsty, I grabbed a glass and filled it with filtered tap water. Realizing that Axton never responded I decided to try again. "You okay?" I asked.

Axton nodded his head and took a sip of the water. "Just realizing how I could have lost you today," he finally revealed. I frowned, walking closer to him. I'm not going to lie and say I'm alright and that I'm over it. I was so close to my death bed. I've fought so much to stay alive in the past three years, I didn't want it to be over so easily.

When Axton rescued me, that's when I realized I'm not alone anymore. I have someone at my side and it was foreign for me. Also it shocked me how much I already trusted Axton. How can't I? He's become the closest one to me and the care he showed me made me care for him as well. Of course I'm not going to tell him that.

"Don't think about that. You saved me in time," I positively told him. Sure, I hated that I needed someone's help to save myself. But I needed someone's help because I couldn't get myself out of that room. I'm just happy it was the person I wanted to save me. "And I'm very thankful I got there in time," he huffed, still pissed at Roger even though he is dead.

"So am I."

Silence fell on us again, neither of us said nothing. The more I thought about today I remembered that Axton left the piles of vervain behind for anyone to take.

"So what are you gonna do with all that vervain?" I asked, stirring the water in my glass. I was honestly terrified of going through that again. The thought about having that warehouse open for anyone to throw me into made me shudder.

His eyes met mine, they seemed so casual and like the topic wasn't a serious one. "Nothing," he bluntly asked. My jaw dropped as I stared at him after that response. "You're just gonna leave it there? All of it?" I rephrased, hoping he would see where I was getting with this.

He shrugged his shoulders and shot down the rest of the water down his throat, slamming it down on the counter harsh. "What else am I supposed to do with it? We spent years growing all of that for our protection," he explained. "So you need protection against me?" I raised my eyebrow suggestively at him.

His eyes widened at my assumption. "No, of course not. But there are other vampires," he replied, only angering me more. "So are you saying that all vampires are bad?" I rephrased.

"No, I'm not. It's just-" I cut him off, already realizing he had nothing to actually say. "Bullshit. Answer me honestly, if I stumbled on your pack and I wasn't your mate would you kill me?" I asked. Axton sighed, his fingers running through his hair in frustration.

"Yes, probably but it's not my fault all the vampires we have encountered have been bad with bad intentions," he said. I scoffed and before I could take it back, grabbed the glass and crashed it onto the floor out of rage. Axton didn't even wince.

"That gives you no right to assume all vampires deserve to die under your hands!" This time I shouted at him. "All vampires try to do is kill us, Quinn! They are our natural enemies! You tried to fucking kill my sister, remember?!" Axton shamelessly shouted at me, his voice louder than mine.

I held my tongue, in disbelief that he was throwing that back in my face. "Fuck off, Axton Gray. You defended me for that one. You know I didn't mean..." I trailed off, not knowing where I was going with this. "Mean to kill a werewolf?" He finished off for me.

"No! I didn't have a choice because I was going to die!" I shouted. "So what if a vampire is about to kill me, are you saying I shouldn't attack back and save myself?" He asked. I didn't even want to think about Axton dying.

"You're going off track here, I'm saying that you're leaving that warehouse for anyone to get access to and come after me!" I scolded. His lips twisted and eyes darkened in rage. Next thing I knew, the glass went flying across the room and shattering on the wall behind me. The water hitting my back but I didn't care.

"No one is going to come after you! I'll be here to protect you!" Axton shouted at me. My hands balled at my sides. "Can you honestly promise me that Axton? Are you saying that no one will ever come after me?" My eyes narrowed on him.

"Yes!" He shouted back at me.

"All my life people came after me! Tried to hurt and kill me so no possessive alpha is gonna stop that!" I snapped back at him, walking to leave the kitchen when I heard everything shatter.

The rows of plates that were on the counter just smashed onto the floor after Axton shoved them off. "That isn't going to happen anymore, do you hear me!?" Axton growled out, jumping over the glass to end up in front of me. He held the sides of my face and told me the promise that I didn't know if he could keep.

"I can protect myself," I whisper back, captivated. "Clearly since you're alive right now," he huffed, his fingers running through his hair again before he continued. "I don't even understand who would want to attack you anyway. You're a newbie vampire right?" He judgementally asked me with a raised eyebrow.

I let out a gasp, shaking my head in disbelief. I couldn't believe he just told me that. "This conversation is over," I softly said before walking out of the kitchen. The tears streamed down my face as I remembered the night when my life came crashing down. The last thing I heard was Axton's protest before I slammed our bedroom door hard.

"Quinn wait!"
