"Well that was something," Axton started, breaking the silence after Harper and Shawn left. "Yeah, it was," I agreed.

Diana sighed out loud, pushing the chair back and got off, gathering our plates in her hands. When I realized what she was trying to do I put my hands out to stop her. "You don't have to do that, I will," I told her but she didn't take no for an answer.

"Relax mom, we got it. You should go make sure dad is okay," Axton interrupted, grabbing the plates from Diana and walking to the sink but she follows him. "Let me help, son. Your father is a big man and he can take care of himself," Diana defended. Axton said nothing and allowed his mother to empty our plates.

I still didn't like the idea of her helping when she was the guest so I got off the stool to help as well. "Quinn, go sit back down, we got this," Diana told me. "Axton washes, I scrub and you place it on the racks," I ordered.

She looked skeptical at first but agreed anyway. We were in a comfortable silence at first until Diana spoke up. "I noticed you both are already sleeping in the same bed, how is that going?" Diana asked as we washed the dishes.

I froze with pink-tinted cheeks. I noticed Axton said nothing as if he wanted to see what I would say. I quickly thought of something and rambled it off. "Yeah, um, he's a loud snorer," I tried to play it off cool, ignoring the awkward silence at first.

Axton faked a hurt expression. "That's not true!" He huffed, throwing water at me from the tap. I froze, my jaw dropping, looking down at the wet spot on the jersey.

"Oh no you didn't!" I squealed, grabbing the hose and spraying water all over his face and jersey. When I was done, droplets of water framed his face, falling from his hair and soaking his shirt further. His jaw dropped as he stared at me playfully. I laughed, holding my chest, up until he ran to the sink and splashed his mother. She looked pissed but a playful pissed, if you know what I mean.

"Axton Payton Gray. You did not just throw water at your mother!" She yelled, using his full name to intimidate him further. I bust out laughing at the use of his full name. "Mom, you know I don't like my middle name." Axton groaned.
