"Wow, this chicken taste really good honey." Said my dad to my step mom, smiling.
"Thanks love." She replied, returning a smile.
Scarlett and I glanced at each other. She always sit opposite me at the dinning table. I took another bite into the appetizing meal in front of me and almost choked when Scarlette asked which school I prefer attending."Um, I was thinking California high?" I replied with uncertainty.
I mean, did the demon just spoke to me, wow!"Well California high it is, after all my opinion wouldn't matter!" She blurted and got up with force. If my eyes didn't follow her into the kitchen I would have thought that the plate broke which she dropped in the sink.
"Sweetie, come here, please!" Sarah called out calmly.
"What for?" Shouted Scarlett.
"Scar, you wouldn't talk to me, nor anyone at home. And if you do its just a short line. You're always out with your friends back in Canada. We don't knw how to please you, and you're not making it easy for us." Explained Sarah to her daughter Scarlett.I felt as if a huge ball rolled in my stomach. Of course I felt responsible for Scarlett feelings. Was I supposed to? I'm always so quick to blame myself.
She looked across to me. "I hate you!" She spoke with such a range that those words pierced my heart. I mean I know she made my life a living hell back in Canada, I don't expect her to not hate me. But I also don't know what wrong I've done to her. And I know it's not because of being her step sister. Because since before her mom met my dad, she always picks on me.
"I thought moving here would give us a fresh start.." Said my step mom with a sigh.
My dad comforted her with a kiss to her forehead.

I quietly closed my bed room door and got ready for bed. Tomorrow meant going to a new school. Where no one, except Scarlett knew about me. And for a second, I felt that I've gotten the new life i always craved. But that quickly faded when I looked across to the picture frame near my light stand. It neatly held the first photo my Bestfriend and I took together, that's 9 years ago!
