Chapter 58: A Prelude for The Approaching Danger

I slowly entered the mansion, noticing how few the servants were as I walked.

Given that there was an occasion that was hosted by the Emperor, I thought of it as something natural.

Almost all of the attendants that served the Shevaria Household were nobles with an average rank after all. Every time there was an event like today's, the Duke allowed some of the servants to participate it, while others remain to do their job at the manor. Of course, he also made sure that everyone's turn could come.

I wonder if Viola participated as well?

While I had that in mind, an old man made his entrance before my eyes and said.

"My, my. Look what we have here."

I wore a fake smile before I could give the person a response.

"It has been years since last I saw you. Have you been doing well?-"

"Sir Giles."

I never knew that he would still have the guts to face me right now after falling for my trap back then.

Based from the kind of demeanor that he showed me at present, it seems like he's gotten rather cocky again. Well, it was impossible for him to not know that my ties with the Duke have been cut down. From that, it's a no wonder as of why he would have the courage to show up in front of me.

"I HAVE been doing well, thanks to the lady. Oh wait-"

"I forgot. You're not the lady of this house anymore, aren't you?", he said with a stupid smile on his face.

Now, look at that petty attitude of his. I honestly felt sorry about him for turning him into a cheap person like that.

Right this moment, he was just pathetic, trying his best to vent out his resentment to me. Furthermore, I think it was his fault back then for letting his guard down, just because I was a child. Why did he have the need to blame me, I wonder?

At any rate, I couldn't see any point of dealing with him for any longer. After all, I needed to preserve it for the things that might occur later on.

"Sure sure. And then? What about that?", I lazily replied after a sigh.

"Heh. You think you can keep pretending not to care about it?"

"If I pretend that I care, will you be satisfied, old man?"

Although Giles was an old geezer, I couldn't understand why he was this childish. I mean... he talked back with statements that my bastard brother would've also used to argue with me.

The debate continued as if it was trying to waste my time. Even if it has reached the point where the topic became way offset, it still kept going. Anyway, it was annoying.

When will this ever end? I impatiently thought.

The situation led me no other choice than to untie the ribbon that fitted the dress that I wore to my waist, and swiftly wrapped it over Giles' neck.

I strangled him with mercy. And while I did so, I stepped my right foot on his back to tighten the grip further.

Truthfully, this was just an act to make it seem like I was triggered by him.

He struggled, looking for anyone that could save him around the area. He looked so desperate to have someone to lend him a hand. The reason was likely because he didn't wish to beg for mercy from someone like me.
