*Shannon POV*

Me and Emmett have been going out for a few months now and I was aware of his and his family's secret. We met through school when he and his family moved to my hometown and we just, clicked. Obviously, he knew we were mates, but I just thought it was love at first sight, something I previously didn't believe in. Over the weeks, we got closer until he asked me out then asked me to be his girlfriend. It wasn't until our 3rd date that he told me his secret but I wasn't scared, he wouldn't hurt me. Typically, our dates are away from his house so we could have some privacy but today was unusually sunny so we couldn't risk going to where we were originally meant to go. It didn't bother me much but Emmett was a bit upset about it. His mood got better as the date progressed. We are hanging out in his room, having a picnic on his floor. There was no food for him but he had an animal blood drink whilst I have some sandwiches and snacks. We are going to watch a movie later but for now, we are relaxing in each other's company.

"What do you think the future holds for us?" He asked me as I lay on his chest, looking up at him.

"Adventure hopefully." I said, looking up at the ceiling as I thought of his question. "I know we won't be able to do the things normal people can but there is so much more we can do. Like travel the world, or make our own coven one day like Carlisle did."

"Well I don't care, as long as you're with me." He said, kissing me gently as I closed my eyes and kissed him back.

"Wow, who knew you could be so sappy." A voice drawled from the doorway.

Both me and Emmett looked over and spotted Jasper who was leaning against the door. Alice and Rosalie were hunting at the moment and Edward was with Bella so he was probably bored.

"How is it any off your business? Besides, with someone like Shannon who won't be sappy." Emmett replied, looking slightly angry that Jasper interrupted us.

"Ew, I dread to think what you two are going to be like when she gets changed. You're cringey now and its only been a few months." He said, chuckling slightly as Emmett glared at him.

"Will you just leave. It's none of your business how we act." Emmett said standing up now as I watched from my spot. I was ready to intervene if needed but getting between two vampires whilst angry isn't a good idea.

They kept speaking to each other until they were shouting, almost screaming.

"Both of you calm down." I shouted, standing up but my voice was unheard.

Both Emmett and Jasper got closer to each other and I was afraid they would start fighting. However, before they could get any closer to one another, a voice broke through their argument.

"Hey," Carlisle shouted as he separated them both, putting a hand on each chest. "You both need to calm down."

He kept them separated as Esme came up to me and gave me a comforting squeeze. My eyes were slightly wet as I got slightly upset when watching them fight and I was shaking slightly. Both Emmett and Jasper we scary when angry.

"Look at what you've done to Shannon." Esme scolded them both, Emmett looking upset as he looked at me. "She shouldn't have to witness this. You are both grounded for a week. That means only going to school and hunting and not seeing Shannon. Jasper, that means you can't have alone time with Alice either."
Emmett looked even more upset after that and he quickly ran out of the room. Hearing the door slam shut downstairs, I got up and ran after him. I knew exactly where he would be, the field which his family sometimes use to play Basketball. It took me about 10 minutes to get there and when I arrived, I could see Emmett leaning against a tree. His shoulders shook slightly as venom tears pooled down his face. There were only a few as vampire couldn't produce actually tears and only some venom would form when they are upset.

"Hey, you okay?" I asked him, giving him a hug as he sobbed into my shoulder.

"N-no, I ruined our date." He said, slightly stuttering as he looked up at him, seeming a lot smaller than normal. "I'm sorry."

"That's not true." I said, rubbing his back. "I enjoyed our date very much. Besides, it wasn't your fault, Jasper started it so don't worry. Once this week is over, we can go on another date and have an even better time."

"Yeah." He said, still looking upset but better than before. He wiped the venom away and hugged me tightly, pulling me into his chest.

"Yes, you will have to wait until next week." A female voice said behind us. Esme approached and touched my shoulder slightly. "Both of you can come back to the house but Carlisle will take you home once we get there Shannon. You'll have to go home for the week but after that you can come around again."
We all went back and I gave Emmett a quick kiss before getting into Carlisle's car and heading home. It was still a good date even though it wasn't the most ideal ending but at least Emmett was only grounded for a week this time.
