It was almost time for classes and Naehyun was still not here. In this university, there were a lot of rules. And being late had some punishments.
I was worried that Naehyun might bump into one of the professors on his way and other than that, he might come back late --- which was not a good thing.
My eyes unconsciously wandered off to the door from time to time as Gunyeo impatiently scroll on his phone.
His eyebrows were furrowed and his arms were almost crossed in annoyance. Looking at him, I saw that he was on Twitter, reading a few comments on a picture.
Unnaturally, I sighed.
"Do you think he'll be here soon?" I couldn't help myself but ask loudly as Gunyeo only gave me a quick glance before returning his attention back on his phone.
I could tell that he wasn't worried at all. Instead, he looked...relaxed?
Probably Naehyun gets away with it all the time. You can never get mad at that boy. He has that charms that could push him out of the trouble, always.
Yet, I can't actually tell if this was going to be one of those days or that the guidance office would suspend him for at least three days or less.
Gunyeo noticed my silence since I saw him turning his chair to face me and answered me with a bored tone on his voice, as if he already knew what would happen.
"Aish, look, I don't know if Naehyun would be fine. He's a fast runner but he's probably still choosing what to eat at that convenience store so he'll take a while."
The only thing I could manage was a nod. There were a lot of students eating in the room and I could guess that we were the only ones who weren't eating yet.
My stomach then grumbled as I sighed in exasperation.
And suddenly, we heard someone yelling outside. Gunyeo and I went outside to see the commotion and both of us were staring wide once we saw Naehyun backing away from a senior student --- who was clearly looking at him with a glare.
The guy's tie was a bit loose, wore a white long sleeved polo, navy blue slacks, had brownish curly locks, and dark brown eyes.
The other two beside him were also seniors but I'm pretty sure that they were harmless since they were the ones holding the guy back from hurting Naehyun.
"형, 이거 그냥 먹으면 안 돼! 이거 다른 사람 주려고 샀어! (Hyung, you can't just take these! I bought these for someone else!)" I could feel the nervousness of Naehyun once he tried to convince the guy not to take the food that he had on his hands --- the ones we ordered for him to bring.
"왜 안 돼요? 내가 너보다 훨씬 나이가 많아. (And why not? I'm much more older than you.)" That was the only thing the guy said before snatching the food and giving it to the other two.
"내가 내꺼라고 하면, 내꺼다. (If I say it's mine, then it's mine.)"
"That's not how it works, hyung. You can get something for yourself." He tried to get the milkshakes and burger back but the guy just raised it up so he couldn't reach it.
"나한테 말대꾸하는 거야? (Are you talking back to me?)" I then saw Naehyun being more scared, his head shaking in disagreement before taking few steps back.
When I had looked into my left side, Gunyeo wasn't talking. Instead, he gulped as he saw our friend being scolded by a senior.
"No, hyung. It's just---" Naehyun tried to explain but then suddenly, the one on the left side of that guy spoke.
This time, I recognized him.
It was Heejun Oh, one of the student council members in this university. I did heard that he was elected as the vice president so he had actual power in this school.
His hands quickly took the food from the guy's hand and immediately threw a glare. "Jihun, you can't just take food that's not Naehyun's."
"그리고 그것이 그의 것이었더라도, 당신은 그냥 당신의 것을 샀어야 했어요. (And even if it was his, you should've just bought your own.)"
Heejun then widened his eyes when the guy, Jihun, snatched the foods back but pushing him much more further to prevent the vice from getting it back.
He then faced Naehyun, who was now a scared mess in front of him.
I wanted to approach Naehyun so badly and tell him that it was alright but when my eyes focused on his hands, I saw them trembling a bit. But, it wasn't out of fear. It was...out of anger?
Jihun probably noticed Naehyun's fist so he had the audacity to step forward and ask him, their face a bit close to each other so that he could whisper. "Who is it for anyway?"
And Naehyun just froze right on the spot. Even Gunyeo wasn't moving. His mouth was agape as Naehyun then looked down as if he doesn't want to answer.
Jihun then moved back and scoffed at him, chuckling afterwards when he saw that Naehyun doesn't have the guts to answer back.
This guy, I swear. He's making my blood boil.
After a few seconds, I heard him talk once more. But this time, he was mocking Naehyun.
"왜 지금 대답을 못 해요, 막내? (Why can't you answer me now, maknae?)" That was the last streak. Huffing, I had the courage to step in the conversation --- hearing Gunyeo trying to stop me from behind. Jihun crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at me once I pushed Naehyun right behind me.
"It's ours."
His eyes glinted in interest as the two beside him stood silent. I was surprised when Gunyeo's hand tried to pull me back.
"형 죄송해요. 그녀는 아직 당신을 몰라요. 자, 이제 와서 말썽 피우지 마세요. (So sorry hyung. She doesn't know you yet. Come on, don't make trouble now.)"
Pulling off his hand out of my arm, I still stood straight as I gave him a challenging glare. I'm not backing down on this one.
I even repeated the words, but this time with emphasis and a hint of sarcasm. "Yeah, it's ours. Why? Do you have any problem with that?"
"In fact, I do." He then looked down at me, smirk was plastered on his face. Now, he's probably mocking me since I was small.
"쇼티. (Shorty.)"
Told you.
As soon as I almost charged at him, the my two friends then held me back. My eyes still glared at Jihun as he also went to get into a fighting stance as if he was challenging me. "E-Eysee, I don't think that's necessary."
Meanwhile, Heejun also tried to stop Jihun at that point. "물러서요, 형. (Back down, hyung.)"
"Get your hands off, Heejun." This was the first time I saw Jihun pushing Heejun's hand like he doesn't want him to interfere.
Sighing, he then showed me my milkshake and some chips. "Fine. Is this yours?"
There, I nod. I thought that he'd finally give it back to my friends but turned out, I was wrong. Instead, he gave it to his friends and told them, "Here, you two can have theirs."
"Try to enjoy yours, shorty. Miss attitude," he then walked away, making me a bit confused. Heejun and the quiet guy then followed Jihun for their next class.
How am I suppose to get it back now.
"That damn guy," I muttered under my breath as soon as I saw him leaving now like nothing truly happened.
