MY HEART WAS BEATING SO FAST RIGHT NOW.
Apparently, I didn't think that Jihun would literally chase us around campus just to get back at what happened at the soccer field.
I could see Naehyun pulling my hand as we both turned into a corner and went up the stairs - hearing a loud call meters behind us.
Gunyeo didn't even hesitate to open the laboratory door and told us to hide there as he distracts Jihun - giving us some time to hide.
As soon as we both went inside and hide behind the tables, Naehyun looked at me as he spoke in a panting manner. "Eysee, don't worry. He's after me, not you."
I then shook my head at him as I tried to breathe for a few seconds. Clearly, his hyung wouldn't know that he was the only one who kicked that ball.
Since both of us were there and standing right next to each other - he'd think that I was the one who had the idea and Naehyun was the only one who did it.
Double trouble, I should say.
"You don't get it. And neither does he. Do you really think that I'd be out of this?" I told him as I then tried to look over the table to take a peek.
So far, it had been quiet and Gunyeo's just right outside the hallway - wondering why it was silent all of the sudden.
There was pure confusion written all over his face and Naehyun pulled me back down so we won't get caught if Jihun does ever come.
"He thinks that I'm the one who told you to kick that ball."
"I'm sure that he doesn't think that," Naehyun reassured me but I wasn't buying it.
And soon, I heard Jihun's voice talking to Gunyeo all of the sudden. The air became dense and I felt like I was holding my breath.
Naehyun beside me then stared at me before looking down at his shaking hands.
"형, 제가 설명할게요- (Hyung, let me explain-) "
"누가 그랬죠? 당신이 아니었다는 것을 알고 있다- (Who did it? I know for a fact that it wasn't you-) " My breath hitched at this point.
I knew that he wasn't going to point Gunyeo since he was practicing at that time, "당신과 당신의 팀 동료들이 훈련하고 있었기 때문에 (since you and your teammates were training.)"
"말해 봐, 누구였더라? 내현이었나요? 아니면 그 소녀였을까? (Tell me, who was it? Was it Naehyun? Or was it that girl?)" And as soon as Jihun mentioned me, Gunyeo suddenly reacted.
His tone changed - instead of being calm, he suddenly became alert and decided to speak up abruptly.
I heard Jihun trying to open the laboratory door - the doorknob rattles as it then skids to a stop afterward as if Gunyeo prevented him from doing that.
"It wasn't her! I swear, hyung, it was just an accident," Gunyeo exclaimed in panic, trying to convince his hyung that I was innocent. I then heard a slam, making my eyes go wide and look back.
There stood Gunyeo at the door, his back blocking it completely to prevent Jihun from ever getting in.
A familiar voice then rang throughout the hallway that Naehyun and I both recognized in a second. "지훈형! 당신은 아무것도 걱정할 필요가 없어요. (Jihun hyung! You don't have to worry about anything.)"
"Heejun-ah," Jihun spoke calmly but I could tell that he wasn't expecting him to be there. "You know you can't just let this pass. Aish, you should really give them a lesson-"
"I didn't see the ball and Naehyun already warned me. It was also my fault for not being aware."
Heejun even shrugs the fact that he got hurt earlier. Just by remembering, I can't help but wince. It was a hard blow for sure yet here he was, letting Naehyun and I go like that.
"Are you really sure that you're going to let them go like this?" Naehyun gulped right beside me as he heard this.
"You do know that they didn't mean it, right?"
"I think we should leave them like this. I'm sure that they didn't mean for that to happen."
I knew Jihun wouldn't let this pass. And of course, I was correct. He planned to tell something about me but got caught off guard.
"But, that girl-" Heejun raised his eyebrows at his hyung before smiling. Though, as I tried to peek, I saw Gunyeo shaking his head furiously and yelling right outside.
"Who? Eysee? She's not a part of this!"
"I'm sure she isn't." Jihun glared at my friend before he faced Heejun. He knew that he may scold him as a hyung but still follow him nonetheless since he was the vice.
"I really can't believe you'd just let this go." He couldn't help but shake his head at Heejun's words, brushing his fingers on his hair afterward.
Heejun just nods, then trying to wave him off. "You should really go to class now, hyung. It's almost time for your next class-"
"I know."
"Be careful next time."
And after that, Jihun left with a frown on his face. I saw everything as I tried to look if there were no one else there.
"Eysee, I think we can-" Before Naehyun could even speak, I literally stood up - leaving him in a daze and walking off to open the door.
It took him a second before he tried to stop me. "Oh, hey, wait. Wait for me!"
"Thanks, hyung. We really appreciate it." I heard Gunyeo's voice from outside as I twisted the doorknob. There I saw Heejun standing beside Yoonwoo - his eyes looking at me in shock.
Yoonwoo, on the other hand, had his eyes casted over the window as if he was looking at something at the field.
"Ah, there you are. I didn't know you guys were hiding in that lab." Heejun gave us a warm smile as soon as we both went out and gave him a bow. I was the one who decided to break the silence and decided to apologize for what happened.
"Sorry for earlier, sunbaenim." Naehyun followed the lead, his hands brushed his hair in uneasiness before he sighed.
"Yeah...sorry, hyung." Heejun waved it off like it was nothing and just nodded in return. But before he could even add something, we then saw Yoonwoo turning his back before walking away as if we weren't there.
Heejun noticed his behavior and decided to talk about it once Yoonwoo left and went up the stairs to probably go back to his classroom. "And...don't thank me, thank Yoonwoo. If it wasn't for him, Jihun would've gotten both of you."
"This was the second time, Naehyun," he warned my friend and added, "I hope that there's no third time."
"I'll try my best not to, hyung." Naehyun gave another bow as Gunyeo and I exchanged glances. Now, we know for a fact that it's not going to be true.
"Well, I guess I'll see you later both then." After that, my eyes wandered off to the stairs where Yoonwoo went. I still couldn't believe what I heard.
What does he mean that if it wasn't for Yoonwoo?
I wanted to ask Heejun so badly but the bell had rang before I even had the chance.
