GUNYEO GLARED AT US.
Right now we were at the cafeteria, sitting and currently eating our lunches. Naehyun was across me beside Gunyeo, looking at the person right beside me. His eyebrows were furrowed as he looked a bit confused at the moment. I guess he wasn't expecting his hyung to be with us today.
Gunyeo, on the other hand, was almost throwing daggers at how he looked at us. There was no uncertainty that he didn't want him to be here. I just gave him a smile in return and mouthed, "I invited him."
He just shook his head in return - not even believing what I said. I guess he wasn't buying it that I, the one who didn't like Jihun for the first time, would be the one to drag him right on our table.
"Glaring at your hyung is rude, don't you think?"
My attention then went towards Jihun, who raised his eyebrow at Gunyeo as he swallowed his food. Gunyeo stayed silent as Naehyun waved his hand towards his hyung in an apologetic look.
"Hyung, Gunyeo probably didn't mean it," he said as he nudged Gunyeo a bit to give him a hint but our friend remained silent and almost even rolled his eyes at what Naehyun said. I could tell that Jihun's patience was running thin so I tried to nudge him with my feet.
Gunyeo looked up once again and muttered an apology before sighing loudly. Jihun got his message and decided to eat peacefully without even saying a word.
"Excuse me." I coughed fakely before taking the lunch box that I had with me. You see, I decided to cook my own food instead of ordering from the cafeteria.
I'm trying to save money so cooking at home and bringing it would be one of the solutions at this time. Besides, I was an exchanged student here. I want to try something new.
Jihun probably noticed my cooking since he suddenly stopped, stared at my food, before he then asked me as he held the spoon in his hands. "Did your mom cook that?"
"No, I prepared this." I was surprised when he took a spoonful of the rice and the meat I cooked. As soon as he chewed on it, his eyes widened for a bit and nodded.
But after he saw my hopeful reaction, he then gave me a fake disgusted look before shaking his head. "It's bland."
Gunyeo's calm composure quickly changed. He gave Jihun another glare, pulling the lunch box I had as soon as possible. Jihun, on the other hand, stood up and walked away - leaving me speechless in my seat.
Was I really a bad cook?
That thought lingered in my mind before I heard someone slamming their hands on the table. Looking back at Gunyeo and Naehyun, I saw that Gunyeo was eating a bit of my meal before shaking his head.
"Hyung's lying. It's not bland at all," Gunyeo answered before pushing my lunchbox towards Naehyun - who was also curious about what I made.
Naehyun then took his spoon and took a bite before agreeing with what Gunyeo said. "It's actually good, Eysee. I agree with Yeo in this."
But if these two liked it, then why didn't he?
I remained still in my seat, thinking about what had happened. That couldn't be. I made sure that I followed my mom's recipe on this. I've done this a lot. I couldn't have messed up on this.
I could feel both Naehyun and Gunyeo staring at me for a whole minute as my lunchbox was untouched after they took a bite. Judging by their looks, I guess they were worried since I wasn't trying to take back my lunchbox and take a spoonful. And they know how much I love food.
"Eysee, are you alright?" Naehyun hesitated as Gunyeo tried to nudge him. Looking at him with a frown, I decided to sigh. I'm a bit disappointed in myself, honestly. I guess that's my first honest review on my food, huh.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just...speechless."
"Don't worry about hyung. He probably didn't mean that. That lunch was delicious."
"Is there really no taste at all in this?" I then took my spoon and pointed at the meal I cooked. This time, I'm pretty sure that it had gone cold after it had been opened. Both of them looked at each other before I heard Naehyun speak up again.
"No, not really. It has enough seasoning, See."
Suddenly, I could see that Naehyun was looking straight at the cafeteria door. He even looked deep in thought, tapping his fingers right on the table. I hope he's not thinking about talking back to his hyung.
"Wait a moment, alright? I'll talk to him for you." Naehyun then stood up and apologized to me before running towards the direction where Jihun left.
Gunyeo and I were the only ones left at that time. He smiled at me before he took his tray with him and sat down right next to me. He could probably tell that I was a bit mad at myself so he didn't even hesitate to put his hand on my head and pat.
"Look, you did nothing wrong," he told me as I thought of trying my own cooking. Taking the lunchbox, I took a bite before chewing. Gunyeo waited for me to finish before waiting for my response.
"Don't worry, I'm just thinking."
"Is it really bland? I mean, I think I've put enough effort into this."
"No, I really think it's delicious. Even Naehyun said so. I'm pretty sure that Jihun hyung just wanted to tease you," he concluded before looking at Naehyun – whose mood had already changed and sat right back down across us.
Instead of a smile, it's almost as if he was copying my mood right now. A frown was plastered on his face.
"Tease me? Again?" I replied to Gunyeo right after Naehyun decided to take his phone out and stayed silent.
Gunyeo nodded before telling me something about his hyung that I almost didn't believe at first.
"I'm pretty sure he just wants to hide his emotions so he does that."
