There was no warning when Jihun stopped by at our vacant class in the afternoon, calling out my name and alarming the others. When he had said that we'll meet after class, I didn't mean that he'd stop by at my last class.

My eyes widened when I saw Jihun standing in the doorway, with a smile plastered on his face. Gunyeo, who was sitting right next to me, was alarmed and I could see him knitting his eyebrows in confusion when he saw his senior's expression. To be honest, I've never seen him this happy to see anyone at all.

"Right now?" I couldn't help but ask him as he nodded. Gunyeo tried to ask me a question but Jihun had already told him that it would be a surprise. He didn't question it further and let us go but not before staring at us with a curious gaze, probably wondering why Jihun hadn't called him and Naehyun.

I walked and followed Jihun up to the other floor where the music room was. Though, I didn't expect that he'd lead me to another room other than that. But, it looked more like a recording room for broadcasters than for singers. I was scared at first since he didn't inform me about this. All I know was that I was supposed to sing and he'd teach me how to.

"You can go over there and I'd see if you need some vocal practice." Jihun pointed over a chair and I quickly sat on it, looking around the equipment inside. There was another room with a microphone in the middle and a big glass was over it, meaning that the one stationed here would be able to see you while you sing.

"What song should I try this time?" I couldn't help but ask as he closed the door and sat at the chair where he was in front of the controls. He then looked at me before he made sure to face me.

"Let's start with something simple. Maybe 'All of Me' by John Legend. Do you know the lyrics?" The only answer I gave him was a nod before I tried to go inside the next room. Though, he stopped me before I could even do that and told me to stand over the middle of this room.

Wait, I thought I would sing?

"You've known how to sing but you always forget that you need to practice your vocals before the performance," he told me before telling me to try synchronizing with him. He started to say 'mi' before singing low. He told me to follow his lead and I did, repeating it a few times.

"That's good, now let's take it up a notch. Try to make the note higher every time you finish," he stated before starting first and then pointed at me, saying it was already my turn. The first four tries were successful but after it got too high for my voice, I felt my throat getting dry and I only huffed — pouting after a few minutes as soon as I felt that I couldn't hear the tone I tried to make.

"Dang it," I mumbled to myself as he only patted me before nodding.

"That'll do." He then mentioned that I should go inside but also reminded me of something.

"Remember to sing and breathe coming from the diaphragm. And don't slouch. Stand up tall if you want your voice to sound great." I took that as a reminder and gave him a thumbs up. Walking inside, he then put on his headset and told me to try. So, I tried the chorus first before he only smiled — telling me to start from the beginning.

This time, I took a deep breath and sang.

He only gave me a smile as I looked at him while singing, At this point, I felt like my hands were trembling so I had to move them so I can get the right tempo.

What if I mess up? What if I forget the lyrics of it?

I couldn't help but think while singing. I know that he's the only one who's listening but I feel embarrassed since I still don't know how I sounded. After a few minutes, I felt my throat giving up as I finally finished the song. He took off the headphones and chuckled and I almost got a bad feeling that he's going to say that I messed up a note.

Before he could even speak, I beat him to it. "I know! I know! I did badly and you don't have to remind me that."

"Not really. Quite the opposite. You did great." Wait, did I hear him right? I only blinked at the words that came from him and he just nodded — making me realize that it wasn't a dream. As soon as I finally stepped out of the door, I saw in the blink of an eye the sign 'On Air' going dim after it had lighted up red earlier.

What the—?

I couldn't help but call out Jihun's name again as he turned around to face me. "Wait, did everyone hear that? I swear I saw that sign on earlier."

He tried to hide his smile but failed afterward. I suddenly put my hands to cover my face once I had realized that he did. Ah, great, everyone heard my voice. I won't be able to go back to the room without hiding. He then told me that it was alright, trying to assure me that there was nothing wrong with my voice.

"It's not that," I told him and continued, "It's just that I don't feel comfortable singing and everyone hearing it. I know they won't know it's me but I just get a bad feeling every time."

"Well, we better make that worry disappear then." I then realized what he meant by that and widened my eyes.

"Don't tell me that—"

"Yup, welcome to the team, Eysee. We'll play at the event next week."
