Kozachi's POV
Where's Saki? A question I keep asking myself as I tapped my foot on the floor in impatience.
Not that I think she's mad at me. She probably already seen my wallpaper. My problem now is that I can't contact her because she took my phone.
I'm now wearing a blue tuxedo since classical music groups are required to wear formal attires. I made sure I looked good.
Yes. I wanted her to see me wearing this. Too bad she isn't here.
Ayumi and Shiori also wore formal attires—specifically blue dresses.
"Kozachi." I instantly looked at the direction where the monotone voice came from. It came from behind a bush, outside the waiting room. I walked up to it.
"Saki! Where'd you went?" She looked away for a second or two. That's when I realized both her hands were behind her.
"What's that?"
"What?"
"Behind you."
"Oh, I uhh..." I sense a hint of panic from her.
"For...you." With her eyes still not looking at me, I now looked at her small hands. One had my phone, while the other had a chocolate bar.
"I'm sorry for getting mad at you." I cupped her cheeks, making her eyes look at mine.
"When you apologize, you look at the person's eyes." A hint of red can now be seen on her face.
"S-sorry for g-getting mad at you." She now repeated.
"You're forgiven. I have to go now. Talk to you later." I was about to walk inside the waiting room again, when she suddenly grabbed my hand.
"Eat my choco first." I laughed a little. I then broke the bar into two, then gave her the other half.
"We, eat this bar." I said with the intonation of the first word heavier than the rest.
She once again nodded, but this time, her nods were somehow quicker than usual.
We ate the chocolate. I only spoke when we finished.
"Goodbye. See you later." I gave a quick pat on her head before I attempted to walk away. She pulled my wrist.
"G-good luck."
"Thanks. Watch me okay?" She nodded.
I now finally entered the waiting room again.
"Where have you been Kozachi?" Ayumi immediately greeted me. She's obviously mad.
"I breathed in some fresh air outside." I lied. I actually ate chocolate with a cutie.
"Fine. Let's go. We're next." We now slowly ascended the stairs that lead to the stage. The recent band was going the opposite way.
I took a glimpse at one, then all of them. For some reason, each one of them had tears all over their faces.
As I saw the grand piano in the middle of the stage, nervousness suddenly hit me. What if I miss a note?
The cemented stage made sounds as our feet walked across it. It was the only sound we could hear. The silence was surely deafening.
We now stopped to face the audience. Most of them were wiping their tears away. What happened?
The oldest man of the three judges gave us a small smile, accompanied with a nod. We all bowed before proceeding to our spots.
I now sat down on the small chair. I looked down on the black and white keys. I also realized something.
The legs of this piano had wheels. That's probably the reason why it only took a short time to prepare it.
I closed my eyes as I let the melody devour me. In the middle part, I could hear 2 melodies talking to each other. This was my favorite point.
Applauses were now given to us before we left the stage. I must admit, my face had trails of sweat.
The taste of chocolate was still in my mouth. The sweetness must have been the reason I calmed down, preventing me from making any mistakes.
"Good job...Kozachi." Shiori whispered as she returned her violin on its case.
"Yeah, thanks. You too." I replied.
"Aww. How about me?" Ayumi asked the both of us. Her viola case is already grabbed by her left hand.
"Your play was great too." Shiori told her. These two are really close to each other.
"Thanks!" Ayumi now said as she hugged the other as tight as she could.
"Ayumi! You're...wrinkling my dress!" She complained, making the other stop.
"Why? Mine is wrinkled too." They now both laughed.
"Kozachi." That monotone voice surprises me every time.
I looked towards the exit. She was waiting there. I went outside.
"Look. Look." I sense excitement in her voice. It wasn't in monotone anymore since it raised at some points.
She now showed me her phone. The wallpaper was me playing the piano. My eyes were closed. The quality of the picture wasn't good since she probably took it from afar.
"Now we're even." She now had a small smile on her lips. It wasn't fake, according to her eyes.
"Dummy, we're not yet even." A pout now formed on her lips.
"And why?" I took her phone.
"Wha—" I opened the camera and set it on front.
"Say Saki." My words made her laugh a little.
"Sakiiiii." We both said. I took the picture.
I then attempted to open her gallery, but she suddenly took back her phone.
"For my eyes only."
