"Misuki." I faced him as I got my plate.
We were still at home.
"What is it?"
"Did you receive a text message?"
"No? Wait, let me check." I put down my plate and went to my room.
I'm not quite sure if I did receive one.
He followed me.
Once I entered the room, my feet swiftly dragged me towards my charging phone. It was on a table beside my bed.
Just as soon as I removed the charger, my phone made a notification sound. The screen lighted up
A message was sent to me.
"Well, looks like you received it too.",
I unlocked it and read the message.
Miss Chigoke, your performance in Science has caught my attention. You will be my substitute for today, as I will be meeting with science teachers from other schools.
What? No. I'm too shy to teach!
Wait.
I now looked at Kakeru who had a wide smile on his face
"Hello, ma'am Chigoke."
We both decided to wear matching attires. I wore a red blouse matched with a red skirt. My shoes were black.
If Kakeru will always be my fellow substitute, then I'll gladly ace every test.
I saw him standing in front of the door as soon as I opened it. He was wearing a red polo shirt with black pants and shoes
I can't help but admire how handsome he is with his attire.
"Woah. You're looking like a tasty snack." He said out of nowhere.
"What?"
"No, I meant let's bring some snacks." He walked away now preventing our eyes from meeting.
A smile formed on my lips as a thought crossed my mind.
I stunned him with my attire.
"What are we teaching?" I asked when we both entered his car.
"Chemistry."
I love chemistry. All the elements seem simple to me.
Looks like the only problem I'll face later is my introverted self.
"Don't worry about stutters. I'll be there to help." He said when he realized that I was still sad even though I'll teach something I love.
The school's halls somehow felt foreign to me. The other students were throwing glances at us as if we're new here.
I can even imagine question marks on their heads.
Kakeru brought the laptop we'll use while I carried the papers for assessment.
We'll only teach for one day and yet the pressure is unbearable.
What I don't like about the current situation is that we'll teach people that are in the same batch as us.
Kakeru entered the classroom first.
"Good morning class!" He greeted, causing the students to stand up.
"Good morning sir Shiroge and maam Chigoke!" They greeted with a hint of joy in their tone.
Of course they're happy. Our science teacher is very strict.
"You may all sit." He now placed the laptop on the teacher's desk.
I connected the projector's wire to the gadget
"We'll discuss the suffixes ene, ane, and yne in hydrocarbons. You all learned that last year and this is just a recap. Who would like to explain the suffix ane?"
Almost everyone raised their hands.
I can't help but admire his confidence. His tone demands respect and at the same time, it also shows a hint of friendliness. He's being genuine.
"Okay, you miss?"
A girl stood up.
"Saki." She had an unusual monotone voice for a girl.
"Okay miss Saki, what is ane?"
"Ane is used as a suffix when the proportion of hydrogen to carbon is 2n+2:n respectively." She sat again afterwards.
"Good! Now who's going to explain ene?" Another guy stood up.
"Kozachi." He immediately stated his name.
"Ene is used as a suffix when the proportion of hydrogen to carbon is 2n:n respectively."
It was a very tiring day. Kakeru didn't even let me speak that much, and I didn't mind. He was just helping me slowly get over my shyness.
Turns out speaking all day long is more tiring than sitting.
I let out a long sigh as soon both our feet entered the car.
"Aww. Ma'am Chigoke is tired." I softly laughed at his remark.
"Stop. I'm a student now."
"Yep, and a student needs a lot of ice cream."
My eyes widened.
"My treat." He winked.
