"OH Crap!" I held my breath and listened hard for any indication of something happening. "Kaysen?" My half whispering voice quivered.
Silence. Then foot steps. Was it Kaysen? What if it was the witches? What if they cast a spell on him? What should I do?
Kaysen stepped into the light with a rock in his hand. The stress left my body in a rush and I ran to the door pulling him into the room and closing the door behind him. "What is it? What was out there?" I inquired.
He looked at me thoughtfully, "this is a rock." And he held it up for my viewing pleasure.
"I can see that smart ass! Why did you bring it in here? For a weapon?" I retorted.
He laughed at my stressful reaction, "there was nothing out there Love. I saw some very strange foot prints and this rock was amongst them, it has this symbol scratched on it, see?"
It was a line with two smaller lines spread out from the bottom on an angle. It reminded me of a chickens foot print. Kaysen had an explanation, "I believe it is called a witches foot, it is the symbol for the death of a man."
My mouth dropped as he continued, "the prints in the dirt are of a heavy three toed creature. The strange thing was the very large human prints mixed in. I am not sure what it was or why they left but we need to erect a shield around the property and alert our guardians....lets do it right now. Don't let this frighten you Sweetheart, we are fine, they want us to be in fear and let our guard down." He was so calm and controlled emotionally.
"I just have to say that it was obviously the witches, they want us to think they are good witches but I am not so sure!" I felt he needed to know my feelings about it.
"Well, if they have negative intentions their magic won't work on our property when we are finished so let's sit now and focus." He directed me calmly and confidently in a meditation to erect a shield against demons and negative magic on our property.
The night was uneventful and I slept pressed against him all night. We needed to go for some groceries the next day, I tried to control my emotions trusting our guardians with our lives. As we crossed the property line I could feel a definite shift in energy. The forest had a distinct feeling off heaviness. Shadows seemed to dash between the trees, branches drooped lower and no birds sang.
We came upon a dead mangled chicken on the side of the road. Further along a gutted cat hung from a tree. Then a blood covered sheep lay in the middle of our path forcing us to stop. "Don't get out of the truck! Lets go back! It's a trick Kaysen, you know it as well as I do!" My fear was peaking but my pleading was pointless.
He turned to me and took my hand, looked deeply into my eyes, "be calm Love, I have this, trust me, no worries remember?"
I took a deep breath to relax myself, "Ok, but don't leave me alone in the truck."
Kaysen telekinetically moved the sheep and we drove on. No need for me to panic at all. I felt kind of silly. When we got to town and pulled into the grocery store there weren't a lot of people around yet. I didn't want to leave the vehicle but I didn't want to stay there alone either! Safer with Kaysen I decided, still struggling with the staying calm thing.
We entered the grocery store and Kaysen was very pleasant to the cashier greeting her with a happy good morning. It didn't take long to gather the things we needed. As we passed the produce department I noticed someone step out of the back room. He saw us there and went back inside quickly. "Kaysen did you see that man? He is a witch, I saw him at that shack in the woods." He just nodded but didn't even look.
We were just finished checking out, the girl at the till seemed strange now, not super friendly for sure. As Kaysen picked up the bags in one hand, a slight shriek escaped me. A mans voice right behind me had just whispered in my ear, "you must die for his sake." I spun around to find no one there.
