Wes and I walked back down the stone pathway towards the direction of the car.
"You're worse than me!" Wes laughed. His face was alight with humour, no smugness or smirks.
"I am not!" I defended. "What you were doing wasn't even called singing, screeching more like."
"Well you scared all wildlife away," he retorted jokingly.
"Says the one who scared all the pigeons away when you were dancing to the fox song," we laughed.
"Although I think I was more impressed that you knew the lyrics of Avril Lavigne's song," I commented.
"I have too much free time," he sighed dramatically. He didn't even bother defending himself.
We got into the car and he pulled out of the little parking lot.
"Next stop, Chance diner," he declared.
"Chance has a diner?" I asked in surprise.
"They have pretty good food as well," he said. "Jordan and I found it."
Chance diner was about a 10 minute drive from the park. It was a small diner with not that many customers in it, just like Chance café. Even though it looked small from the outside, the interior was spacious and open. We slid into a booth as a waitress walked up to us.
"Welcome to Chance café," she smiled at us. "Here are the menus."
"Thanks," Wes said, grabbing the menus and handing me one. Blood rushed up the girl's face as she hurried back.
"That's cute," I said.
"Me, right?" he smirked up at me.
I rolled my eyes at his response, "I think you got her adrenaline pumping by one word."
"Hmmm," he replied disinterestedly, flipping through the menu. "So what do you feel like eating? I seriously recommend the onion rings."
I flipped through the menu, "I don't think I should trust your recommendations."
"And there comes back the sarcastic Kitty," he smirked.
I rolled my eyes at him, smiling. "Fine, I'll get the damn onion rings."
"Good girl!" he reached out to ruffle my hair. I slapped his hand away in annoyance just as the waitress came back over.
"So, are you ready to order?" the waitress asked, coming back. She was mainly oggling at Wes though.
"I'll have a steak, medium rare, with onion rings on the side," he said as she smiled shyly at him.
"And for your girlfriend?" she asked.
"Oh, I'm not-" I replied, my cheeks slightly colouring as Wes grinned cockily from opposite me.
There was an awkward silence.
"Anyway," I cut through, clearing my throat. "I'll just have the BBQ ribs with onion rings on the side."
"Any drinks?" she asked, positively beaming while writing down the orders. Wes looked at me to which I shrugged, letting him decide.
"Just two sodas," Wes said.
"Coming right up," she said, walking away.
"So-," Wes said slowly.
"Don't even comment," I cut through warningly. He just chuckled in response.
"Here're your drinks," the girl said, placing a coke and a napkin with cutlery on top in front of each of us.
