A Pocketful of Clear Skies
"Wes, where are we going?" I asked as he pulled me through the bushes in the garden.
Before he could reply, there was another BANG- this time coming from the house.
Wes and I looked at each other and I widened my eyes in fear.
"I'd better go and check what's going on," I pulled him closer to the house.
"It was probably Ash and Alex again," Wes suggested, tugging on my hand to stop. "Probably trying to fix Jordan's next present."
"Or Eli almost faced 'the talk' and freaked out to stop it from happening," I offered.
"What is going on with them? Jordan's being very vague, Eli's being too hyperactively avoidant."
I giggled and Wes raised an eyebrow at me. I didn't realised I had slowed down until we stopped at a little fountain in front of dad's office where I had gone out from just before. Everything looked so different now, so bright and clear compared to the chaotic blur of an hour ago. This included Wes' face as he waited my explanation with a smile on his face. The sound from the house suddenly quietened and there were shouts following it, so I came to a full stop to explain to Wes.
"Well you see, we broke into Jordan's house in the middle of the night for the party planning folder you guys had," I tried to explain and Wes' eyes immediately grew incredulous. "But Jordan woke up and we tried to trick him into thinking it was a dream. But then he said some really embarrassing stuff and then woke up for real. And he started freaking out so I told Eli to quieten him and she thought the best technique was to kiss him."
"Solid plan," Wes nodded with a smirk on his face. "Distract him so he doesn't know about the party."
"Yes, so I made up an excuse about how we were there because I needed advise on how to fix things between you and I."
Wes hugged me to his side tightly, "Thank you, for everything. And this party- it was an amazing idea!"
"It's for Jordan, not for you," I nudged him playfully.
"We both know your true motives but we don't have to tell Jordan," he winked at me.
"Yes, I confess that I spent this whole week planning a party just to get your attention," I rolled my eyes at him. "Actually that sounds better than waiting a few years now that I think about it."
"Har har, so did you go visit Jordan in a maid's outfit to personally invite him as well?" Wes replied sarcastically and I blushed in response. This only made him smirk more.
"Okay, so the party is for Jordan, but it may have also been to get your attention," I rolled my eyes guiltily.
His smirk lengthened so much so that I had the sudden desire to pull out a ruler to measure. This must have been a record.
However, Wes' expression soon grew confused as he asked, "Wait, all week? When did you go to Jordan's house?"
"Tuesday," I replied, knitting my eyebrows together at his confused expression.
"That was the night I...," Wes trailed off.
My eyes fell down in embarrassment, "Yeah that was the night I ran into you and Mase."
"Eli told you what happened after that, didn't she?" Wes sighed.
"Yes, Eli and I actually got into a fight that night too," I said quietly. The memories replayed in my head- the restaurant, the anxiety attack, Mase and Wes nearly getting into a physical fight, Eli and I saying the worst things possible. Everything was getting out of hand. Our tight group of friends were divided and strained.
