We galloped across the fields towards Dundalk. My sword was now on my back instead of my belt.
I didn't think that Link was quite ready to charge into battle so we stopped in a small forest near the town of Dundalk and left the horses there. I wasn't too worried. Link was a fast horse. If he needed to escape he could, and if I needed him he always came when I whistled.
We walked outside the town walls thinking. If we walked in we would be taken prisoner. Suddenly I had an idea. I didn't know why I hadn't thought of it before. I stopped walking and Niall, Clara and Charlie gave me a sideways look. I unclipped my claw device from my belt and aimed it at the top of the wall. Soon, I was hanging onto the edge of the wall, but I didn't climb up in case there were soldiers prowling around. I threw the claw down and soon Niall, Clara and Charlie was hanging beside me and the device was once again clipped to my belt.
We shuffled around, not daring to say word. Eventually we had to climb up because our fingers hurt. I went up first to see if the coast was clear. There was a guard with his back turned, so I hid behind a wooden box and unsheathed my sword. I slammed the hilt of my sword as hard as I could on his head and he crumpled to the floor, unconscious. My three friends climbed up and we peered into the town.
I couldn't see all of it, but I guess the town would have to be tiny to be able to see all of it. It was probably, slightly larger than Drogheda. But we could see the castle at the back of town. We started towards the castle along the wall when Clara grasped my arm (which still hurt) and whispered, "Jade! Look!" She pointed towards the center of town where Lady Caroline and Taylor (who was wearing a pink outfit like ours) were bound to a long wooden pole. A large crowd was gathered around and Lord Jay was standing at the front, announcing something.
Someone in the crowd who was wearing the same clothes as us except black, jumped out and attacked him. He spun around and stabbed at the persons stomach and pulled their hood up. It was Kelsey. I gasped as somebody pushed three other people forward. They were wearing purple, yellow and orange.Lord Jay pulled their hoods back. Ruth was wearing purple, Emma was wearing yellow and Eve was wearing orange. Thankfully Lord Jay didn't stab them. Probably because they hadn't attacked.
I looked away from the scene. I needed a plan. I stared at the box we were hiding behind. It read explosives. I had an idea. I turned back to my friends. Niall and Clara were still looking at the crowd and Charlie was raiding a set of throwing knives from the guard I had knocked out. I took out my sword and carefully cut a piece from the top of the wooden box. I told my friends to follow me.
We walked along the wall, silently taking out any guards who came near. Soon we were a good distance from the box. We hid behind another box and explained my plan to the others.
There was a tree next to us which Niall and I climbed into. We carefully climbed down and when we were at the bottom we gave a thumbs up sign and Charlie broke the piece of wood I cut and started rubbing it together. A flame started on it and he held it close to one of Clara's arrows. She let it fly, and the fire arrow hit the explosives. There was a loud bang and the wall exploded around that area.
I could no longer see Lord Jay but Clara gave us the thumbs up sign and Niall and I made our way towards the center of the town while Clara and Charlie kept walking along the wall.
We made it to center of town and hid inside one of the empty buildings because the crowd was coming back. A large amount of the people had stayed at the hole in the wall to make sure no one came through. Another bang erupted somewhere else on the wall and everyone left again to investigate, leaving Lord Jay with our friends. Ruth, Emma and Eve were now handcuffed to a street light but Kelsey lay at the lord's feet, motionless, a pool of blood lay around her.
Before anyone could come back, I charged out of the building and attacked the lord of Dundalk. I knew how he was going to strike after he attacked Kelsey and blocked it easily. We started fighting lighting fast. He attacked more than I did though. Another explosion echoed around the town. Niall went over and hit the street light as hard as he could with his spiked ball flail and it broke in two. Emma and Eve went over to free their mother while he went to free Taylor. I don't know where Ruth went.
Lord Jay's head was jerked back suddenly and I saw that Ruth had her handcuffs around his neck. "OK. I surrender." he wheezed, dropping his sword. I kicked it away so he couldn't change his mind. I was still tempted to kill him after all the damage he had caused.
Somebody collapsed on either side of me. It was two Dundalk soldiers. One of them had an arrow in his helmet, the other had a knife. I hadn't even heard them coming.
Lord Jay saw that I had let my guard down and seized his opportunity. He grabbed the cuffs around his neck and threw Ruth into me, sending us into a wall. He ran down the street, towards his castle. "Are you alright?" I asked her. She nodded and helped me up.
Niall was now bending over Kelsey, checking her pulse. A great sense of relief came over his face. "She'll live if we're quick." he said. "He didn't stab anywhere important but she will need to get this wound stitched up soon before she loses too much bl- OW!" Kelsey had just kicked him in the leg. "You were talking too much." she explained weakly.
Lady Caroline came over to me and asked for my sword. I gave if to her reluctantly and she cut a notice board down. Herself and Taylor lifted Kelsey onto it. She gave me back my sword. Herself and Taylor lifted up the board with Kelsey on it and told us we should leave. We offered to carry it instead of her but she told us she needed to repay the favour. Charlie and Clara dashed over to us. "Are there any more boxes?" I asked them. They said there was one more. I told them I had something to finish, to stop Lord Jay from attacking us again.
So while everyone else went to the forest where we left our horses. I climbed back onto the wall. I found the box and pushed it until I was behind the castle. I cut the top off the box and poured the explosives over the castle and with the top of the box I lit a fire. I dropped the flaming wood after the explosives. I whistled and jumped off the wall as they exploded.
