As we neared the closed gates at the edge of town, Emma leaned towards Charlie and whispered, "You need to ask the guard to open the gate because you're the only one who sounds like a boy!" "That's because I am a boy" he muttered, walking into the gate control room.

A few minutes later he walked out with his head down. He mounted Ash slowly and said mournfully, "He didn't believe that we were the new reinforcements,"  Emma looked shocked and replied, "What? Why? You didn't do it right!" Then the gates creaked open and Charlie burst out laughing.

"The looks on your faces! I'm only joking!" Emma and Eve both scowled and said simultaneously, "We're not here to joke! We're here to save our town!" Charlie stopped smiling and I think he muttered something about keeping our spirits high.

Once we left the town, the gates closed behind us. The fighting wasn't here but in the distance I could see thick, black smoke rising into the air. A light brown horse with no person on it's back was running towards us. It looked like Danny. I suddenly felt really nervous but I tried to mask that feeling from the view of the people around me. I looked at everyone. They all looked really nervous as well. "Well... Hopefully we'll see each other again...Good luck..." murmured Eve, and we galloped towards the fight, not saying another word until we got there.

Now I could see the war. There were people clashing blades and weapons of all sorts. People being trampled by horses. People and horses were lying on the ground in pain or dead. There were giant catapults hurling rocks around the place. Some catapults were burning which was what was causing the smoke. It was a horrible sight. The people from Drogheda didn't have plumes on their helmet but Dundalk had gold ones, so it was easy to see who the enemy was.

"FOR DROGHEDA!" we all yelled as we charged towards the battle. There was cries of hope from the Drogheda men.

I lost sight of my friends immediately as I entered a swarm of men. I swung my sword at a group of Dundalk men and shut my eyes so I couldn't see what I had done. But that was a mistake because while I couldn't see, someone pulled me off Link and I hit the ground painfully, dropping my sword.

I opened my eyes quickly to see a tall, muscular Dundalk soldier raise a hammer over his head. "This is the end of me. Only two seconds into the fight." I thought.

But I was wrong. The man was hit by someone else and fell to the ground. I breathed a sigh of relief. The person who had hit him helped me up. I noticed he was holding a spiked ball flail. "Niall?" I exclaimed in disbelief. The person looked up at me questioningly and I instantly knew it was him. Through the eye-slits in the helmet I could see his green-blue eyes looking into mine. "Jade? What are you doing here?" He shook his head in disbelief. I picked up my sword and swung it at a man who tried to attack Niall while his back was turned. He fell to the ground. I turned to Niall. "I'll tell you when this is over!"

We stood back to back, exchanging blows with anyone who attacked us until eventually, most of the Dundalk soldiers had been defeated. The remaining few hopped onto their horses and galloped north, back towards Dundalk.

I searched the crowd of remaining Drogheda soldiers. All my friends had made it. We all got into a group hug. We explained the story to Niall and he said he would definitely support us.

None of the girls had lost their horses except me. Charlie still had his too. So I shared a horse with Emma and Niall shared a horse with Eve. But when we approached the Drogheda gates again, I found Link with Danny, outside the walls of Drogheda. I was really glad to see him.

So we climbed onto our own horses and trotted along with the rest of the Droghead soldiers back into town.
