13.Payton Bo

We followed the girl towards the house. The boy stood waiting for us at the door and he told the blond girl to go into the other girls. The rest of us stood outside and he looked at us all.

"OK! I recognise all of you from the posters, except you!" he said looking at Jake. "What's your name?"

"Jake Matthews. What's yours?" Jake asked.

"I'm Payton, Payton Bo!" the boy answered. "If you would all like to go inside. Um, just go straight down the hall and you'll find the others in the kitchen. Rose prepared a little feast for you all."

"Wait, how did you know we were going to agree?" I questioned.

"I know a lot about all of you.... especially you Jade." Payton answered, hanging his head slightly. He was really starting to creep me out.

"Is the Rose you were talking about, Rose Bennet?" queried Emma.

"Yes." said Payton, nodding. "I believe she is a friend of your mother's?"

"Yeah she is, but she was in Drogheda last time we saw her. How did she get here?" asked Eve.

"Well, she didn't fight Prince Frank's army." Payton said. "Go on inside, before it starts to rain."

The cloud had started to turn a dark grey colour so we started to go inside. But Payton put a hand on my shoulder and asked if he could talk to me in privacy. Niall looked back but I mouthed the words "I'll be fine". He didn't look totally convinced but he followed the others inside.

"Jade can I see your right leg?" Payton asked.

"What! Why?"

"I need to know if you're.......if you're my sister."

"I don't have a brother."

"Please."

"Fine."

I rolled up the bottom of my trousers, revealing a scar that I don't remember how I got it. Payton gasped.

"You are my sister."

"Look, I don't know if you were listening but I don't have a brother!" I repeated, starting to get annoyed. Payton sighed. 

"I'll prove it to you. Just not now, we don't want to keep everyone waiting."

"That's the first thing you said that made sense."
