i'm used to train rides
standing up
and having either nothing to hold onto
or no personal spaceof course, i wasn't the only one in seoul
who could keep balanced
when the train zoomed and turned
at a ridiculous speedbut in los angeles
trains aren't very universal
not as much as regular buses
so i guess it seemed neat to youi stood in front of the door,
in the middle, next to a pole-
just in case the shitty los angeles
metro train took another shitty turni felt the way the train moved
and shifted my weight accordingly
from one foot to another
with my phone in handi felt your eyes follow my feet
and i looked up from my texts
your brows were furrowed,
and you looked determinedyou let go of the rail
and shifted your weight as i did
but you didn't know what you were
doing, and didn't feel the turnyou went flying to the floor,
with a painful "oof!"
and i couldn't hold in my laugh
as i grabbed onto the polei stretched my hand out to you
and helped you up
your face was painfully red
but you smiledthe wind was knocked out of my chest
and despite my hand holding on
to the pole,
i lost my balance"you make it seem so easy"
but even the most graceful dancers fall on their knees at the sight of beauty
