moonbeam

i continue on, day by day
walking these winding paths
chasing rivers
my skin kissed by the loving sun
pulling out these thorns
that have buried themselves
so deep into my heart
writing my dreams and
watching them float up in a plume of smoke
hoping it relieves some weight off my shoulders

i dare write your name
on this fertile soil,
as i look up at today's bright blue sky
cower behind these dark gray clouds
in them i see a shape resembling you
yet another silly yearning
i look at the sky and i see you,
i'm sure you know i have not forgotten you

you're stuck on me, like these flowers' roots
have dug themselves into my garden
and even if you outgrow my garden,
the path of your roots will still be here
even if i hide from you
in the darkness of my room,
and in my dreams find myself in a meadow
with tall grasses

you're stuck on me, like these trees' roots
have dug themselves into the forest floor
and even if you outgrow this soil,
the void of your roots will still be there
even if i hide from you
in the safety of my room,
and in my dreams find myself in a jungle
with infinite foliage
there's just no way, my ray of moonlight,
that i'll keep my feelings for you at bay
there's just no way, none that i can see, that you'll go away

you're stuck on me,
you're in my heart to the root
