"THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM, CHILDREN."

It had been less than five minutes in the yellow cab with Kit, speeding down the roads of the suburbs that had delicate rows of houses on either side of the street, and Cara Pritchard was already nearly drifting off to sleep.

Not that a car ride to a big and fancy hotel was boring in any way whatsoever, but Cara was thoroughly bored and drained and exhausted thanks to too many revelations in too little time.

Hopefully arriving at a hotel would allow them a good source of rest which Cara was very eager to take advantage of, considering every time she tried to lean her head on the window and rest her eyes, the car would jolt and she would hit her head.

Sitting in the backseat of a car was much more convenient because there you had someone to rest on. For Cara, it would be Violet, but since she was in the front seat, it was rickety window.

So far, Kit Snicket had promised to take them to the Hotel Denouement, told them nothing more than her name and then sped off down the street.

Just the name of Snicket stirred up an unwelcome feeling of sickness inside of Cara as she remembered Jacques and his relationship to everyone around him, he was Olivia's boyfriend, Max's mentor and now everybody was dead.

Cara tiredly wiped her eyes, sitting back against her seat as Kit steered them down many twists and turns on their way to Hotel Denouement, driving fast whilst she spoke quickly and in a manner very similar to Jacques...you could definitely tell they were siblings.

"It may seem like I'm speeding recklessly because I'm a taxi driver who doesn't care about traffic safety laws, but really, I'm trying to shake a car that's been following us." She said, glancing in the rear-view mirror and keeping two hands on the wheel at all times.

"There's a car following us?" Violet asked warily and turned around in her seat, looking out of the back window whereas Cara looked in the wing mirror on her side of the car.

The car was black and looked too dramatic and extra to be anything other than a villain.

"I suspect it belongs to a pair of sinister villains I recently encountered on a mountain." Kit said casually and Cara looked back into the mirror, nodding her head at Kit's suspicion as she eyed the tall hair of Olaf's mother and the long beard of Olaf's father.

"We were on that mountain, too." Klaus said.

"I know exactly where you've been, Klaus Baudelaire." Kit smiled and turned around to look at the Baudelaires in the backseat, then glanced to Cara with the smile still on her face before she looked back at the road. "I've been wanting to help you all along but ever since the schism, there have been more fires than even a Volunteer Fire Department can put out."
