- THE BAD BEGINNING PT 1 -
"Beloved."SITTING IN MR. POE'S on the way to Briny beach to deliver some heartbreaking news to a group of newly orphaned children is not how Cara imagined spending her Saturday. Maybe she imagined playing a board game with her siblings whilst her parents were watching her, happy that they had made up but also waiting for what would be the cause of their next argument.
"Now, you're parents will, stated very specifically that if anything should happen to them, you would be placed in the care of the Baudelaires." The banker started, keeping his eyes on the road so that they didn't crash. Her eyebrows furrowed together in confusion, she had never met anybody with the name of 'Baudelaire', her parents had never mentioned them before, at least not to her. "But, due to certain circumstances, you will be going to the same guardian as the Baudelaire children so technically you're still with them." He nodded, content with his decisions.
"I've never met anyone with the name 'Baudelaire.'" She told him, thinking that this was some sort of mistake. That she would be sent to live with her Aunt Greta who lived all the way in Peru, she wasn't close but she was still a relative.
"Well, I suppose that it doesn't matter whether you've met them or not, although it would be ideal." He chuckled as if this was one big joke.
"Is this a joke to you?!" She exclaimed, scowling at him from the backseat. The banker cleared his throat and shook his head, denying her claim even though he still kept a smile on his face.
"No. I can assure you that this isn't a joke, I know it might be hard to comprehend but I'm so sorry to say that this is indeed real, though I don't blame you for thinking it was some prank." He said, not understanding what she was trying to say at all.
"No I meant that- nevermind." She sighed, looking out of the window and seeing the grey clouds looming over a sandy beach, it was empty apart from what looked like three young children with a picnic blanket sat underneath the two eldest. There was a baby sat next to them, clapping it's hands as the eldest sibling took her hair down, seeing them happy reminded Cara of herself and her siblings, oh how sorry she felt for them right now.
"We're here. Now, you are going to be living with these kids until you are 18 years of age and can inherit the Pritchard family fortune, so you might want to make a good impression." Mr. Poe advised, parking the car and getting out of it. Deciding that taking a stand and staying in the car just to be petty wasn't the best way to go, Cara exited the vehicle and followed Mr. Poe down some stairs onto the sandy beach, walking towards the three children.
"It's Mr. Poe and...a girl." The eldest child said, she had long straight brown hair as well as bangs that covered most of her eyebrows. She was wearing a pink dress that had a black pattern covering it as well as a light blue cardigan to keep her warm. The baby was being held in her arms, also looking at the two figures that were approaching them.
