IT'S A BRAND-NEW EPSIODE IN THE ORPHANS LIVES. It was a new day, and they were on their way to a new guardian. After Count Olaf, Cara was glad to be going somewhere far away that took a long time to get there, at first she was glad. Now she was bored, it took about 20 minutes but that was a new record. She had fallen asleep twice, once on Violet and once on Klaus, but at this moment she was awake, playing with Sunny, who was sat on her lap and had been for the whole ride.
"It's a brand-new episode in your lives, children." Mr. Poe said from the drivers seat, glancing back to the four in the rearview mirror. "In a few minutes you'll be meeting your new guardian, Dr. Montgomery. He's the Baudelaire's closest living relative and apparently should've been your guardian all along, according to your deceased parents' will. And of course, Carly will be going with you because of her deceased parents' will."
The siblings looked at one another warily, they had never heard of anybody named Dr Montgomery before. "I'm beginning to think it was a mistake to listen to that oddly-dressed consultant who walked into my office with no references and no identification, and who suggested that I place you in Count Olaf's care."
"That was probably Olaf." Cara told him.
"Don't be silly, Kierra, the consultant had a mole on his chin and Count Olaf does not." Mr. Poe chuckled and the girl corrected him of her name once again, it was getting very very frustrating.
"We wholeheartedly agree." Violet told him, referencing to the fact that it was a bad idea for the banker to listen to what could have been Olaf in disguise.
"You're a disgrace to your profession." Sunny babbled, playing with Cara's fingers as she nodded in agreement with the child on her lap.
"My recently rehired secretary Jacquelyn is nervous that Count Olaf is still at large, but I don't think Olaf will be able to find you way out here." Mr. Poe said, pointing out the sign for 'Lousy Lane' afterwards and taking the turn. "By the way, the police tell me they feel very confident that he will be caught in no time at all."
A strong and bitter smell invaded the car and Cara recognized it almost immediately, pulling her dress over her nose and sinking back in her seat. Klaus cleared his throat and coughed whilst Violet scrunched up her nose.
"Uh...what, what is that smell?" Klaus asked, glancing at Cara next to him as she tried to cover up her face more and more.
"It's ginger, I believe." Mr Poe said and the siblings immediately turned to Cara, knowing of her allergies, she had told them after the fiasco about the raspberry muffins two days ago. She waved it off and then coughed into her dress. "We're here."
