Chapter 7

Sparrow hummed as he made dinner for both himself and Elliot. He was getting more nervous the later into the evening it became. As he cooked meat and potatoes for them his mind wandered back to the past. It was a certain event he would like not to remember. 

"Are you okay" Sparrow heard Elliot ask as his mate wrapped him in his arms. 

Leaning against Elliot Sparrow took comfort in his mate's touch. Sparrow had wanted to give Elliot something that was taken from him by force. 

"Truthfully, I'm not ok. I need to tell you something before we get lost in the mating haze when the moon rises" Sparrow spoke his voice wavering in nervousness.

"You can tell me anything, I won't think any less of you" Elliot replied as he placed a soft kiss against Sparrow's jaw. 

"When I was young I got into some trouble that changed me forever, no-one but my uncle Greyson and Uncle Nicholas know about it" Sparrow started as he portioned out the meat and potatoes on two plates. 

"If only the three of you know it's bad isn't it" Elliot questioned as he helped Sparrow to put their place settings out on the table. Elliot got his answer as Sparrow nodded solemnly. 

"I was fifteen and I was given my first training patrol. On my patrol was an older male werewolf who had only recently joined the pack who hadn't quite gotten the trust of the pack. He lured me to the border where he said rouges had been spotted. When we got there he made me shift. At this point, I was getting worried so I mind-linked my uncle Nicholas that I was afraid" Sparrow continued as he moved the food around on his plate. 

"You don't have to keep talking if it's too painful" Elliot offered as he reached out and rubbed over Sparrow's wrist. 

"I need to Elliot I don't want to keep any secrets from you" Sparrow replied as he put down his fork and entwined their fingers. 

"I understand" Elliot nodded waiting for Sparrow to speak again. 

"However, just after I sent the message to my uncle Nicholas, rouges appeared from the tree line. I thought the wolf that was with me would attack them but he didn't. As it turns out they were friends and he'd infiltrated the pack to weaken the future generation of warriors. They attacked me first by biting and clawing and then they stole something from me. They stole my innocence. They would've killed me if it wasn't for Nicholas and Greyson. They went on a rampage and killed the wolf and the two rouges. After they took me to their house where they cleaned me up and said it wasn't my fault" Sparrow finished tears stinging his eyes as the emotions of that day came back to him. 

"It wasn't your fault, Sparrow and I don't think less of you. You were still just a kid you were scared and I bet you felt alone" Elliot said as he got out of his chair and gathered Sparrow into his arms. 

"Yeah I was scared, It feels so good to tell you Elliot" Sparrow whimpered his wolf whining through his chest as tears rolled down his cheeks. 

"I need to tell you something too" Elliot spoke as he rubbed soothing circles in Sparrows back. He wanted to bear his soul for his mate the same way Sparrow had done for him. 

"I won't judge you, Elliot, I want us to have no secrets remember" Sparrow responded as he looked at Elliot through blurry eyes. 

"The reason I was a lone wolf is because my previous alpha tried to mate with me. His mate was my sister and when she died he went crazy saying that he had to claim me in her honour. I ran away because the only person I wanted to be with is my mate. But having me here is going to put you all in danger. I have been chased by rouges working for him all the way here. That why you found me in a tree hollow" Elliot explained clutching Sparrow tighter when his mate hugged him.
