Chapter 8

Elliot's tail wagged as he wandered through the forest. It had been four months since his mating to Sparrow and he was slowly getting acclimatised back into pack life. He had even dared to meet with the retired Alpha Elijah and the current alphas of the pack Damon and Dimitri. But he still wasn't one hundred per cent. 

Picking up Sparrow's scent in the forest Elliot hummed happily knowing his mate was doing his duties and patrolling the pack. Deciding to leave him to it Elliot put his nose down to the ground to try and search for a meal. He was slightly hungry so a small animal would be sufficient. 

Creeping carefully through the foliage Elliot's ears perked up as he caught sight of a plump fuzzy rabbit. His muscles coiled as he got ready to pounce. Kicking off from his back legs he dived onto the bunny. Snatching it between his jaws it died instantly as Elliot crushed its windpipe. 

Looking around him Elliot spotted a boulder in the forest. Jumping up onto the outcrop Elliot settled down to enjoy his meal. Crushing through the rabbit's bones with ease Elliot didn't notice his surroundings as he was too engrossed with his meal. 

Elliot let out a startled yelp as he was tackled to the ground by an unknown wolf. Snarling Elliot snapped his jaws in the other wolf's face smirking internally as he managed to get a chunk out of his attacker. Though Elliot was quickly pinned down by two more rouges so their leader could shake off his bite. Looking around him Elliot realised that the rouges who had cornered him were the same ones who had chased him onto the territory. 

"Sparrow rouges are on the territory I need help" Elliot called to his mate through their mind link. 

"I'll be there as soon as I can, please hold on till I get their" Sparrow replied before the link went dead.

Focusing his attention back on the Elliot snarled and kicked his legs trying to get the rouges of him. They stumbled backwards and Elliot took his chance to run. Lifting his nose to the air Elliot followed Sparrow's scent. With the rouges nipping at his tail and paws, Elliot pushed himself to go faster. Breaking through the tree line Elliot turned his head to look behind him. Elliot regretted his decision immediately as he tripped over a tree root falling face-first into the dirt. 

Before he could get his bearing's one of the rouges gripped the back of his scruff. Elliot stilled instantly fear gripping his heart as he realised the rouge could easily kill him. With a desperate breath, Elliot released a howl of terror hoping any of the wolves in the territory would hear him. 

His prayers were answered as Damon and Dimitri appeared in the clearing alongside his mate in their wolf forms. Elliot flinched as the alphas snarled at the rouges. He knew their anger wasn't aimed at him but he was still working through his trauma. Elliot watched on as Damon shifted into his human form to make communication to the rouges easier. 

"Release our pack mate you filthy rouges" Damon growled as he took a threatening step forward his muscles rippling with the movement. 

"No we have our orders, this wolf is coming with us" One of the rouges challenged as he shifted behind me. 

"Who's order's," Damon asked stilling as the rouge holding Elliot added more pressure to his neck. 

"Alpha Donalds," The rouge said before he shifted back into his wolf and barked at his friends. 

At the name, Elliot's blood ran cold and the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. He knew his previous alpha wouldn't let him go so easily. Elliot was pulled out of his thoughts as he heard a low rumbling growl. Looking up Elliot's heart did a slow roll as he saw Sparrow and the alphas charge the rouges. 

In the midst of the chaos the rouge holding him let him go. Taking his chance Elliot ran over to his mate to face the rouges. Now that it was four against three Elliot knew he would be able to join the battle. He didn't like fighting but he knew that if he didn't fight they would keep coming back for him. 

With a growl, Elliot jumped into the fray. It was then a blur of teeth, claws and fur as the battle commenced. As the lead rouge realised that they were losing Elliot spotted him run away. But they were too busy with the other rouges to chase after him. As the remaining two rouges lost consciousness from their wounds Elliot stepped away from the battle. 

"Are you alright" Sparrow whined through the mind link as he rubbed himself up against Elliot trying to get rid of the rouge scent with his own.

"I'm fine Sparrow, you came to my rescue" Elliot hummed as his heart finally began slowing down.

"I'll always come for you, I love you Elliot" Sparrow spoke licking under Elliot's jaw. 

"I love you too Sparrow" Elliot replied as he enjoyed the attentions of his mate. 

"We'll take these two away for questioning" Dimitri offered cutting into Elliot and Sparrow's minds breaking them out of their trance.

"Thank you alpha's" Elliot acknowledged though his ears pressed against his skull and his tail tucked under his belly in fear and nervousness. 

As they walked away Elliot relaxed as he was left alone with Sparrow who was still trying to wash off the scent of the rouges from Elliot's fur. 

"Sparrow is everything ok," Elliot asked as Sparrow started panting. 

 "I don't like their scent on you and I'm worried about your old alpha" Sparrow whimpered his wolf growling in his mind knowing someone was after his mate. 

"Let's go home then and I can shower and then we can get rid of their scent permanently" Elliot husked before he moved to flick Sparrow in the face with his tail before bounding away from Sparrow who promptly gave chase. 

With a mix of emotions, Elliot yipped as Sparrow chased him back to their cabin. Elliot knew what they were gonna do once the rouges scent was washed off. His wolf gave an excited grumble as he breached through the cabin door. 

Shifting Elliot squeaked in surprise as Sparrow wrapped his arms around him from behind. Elliot knew Sparrow just wanted to make sure he was safe and didn't have any injuries. Leaning his head back Elliot let Sparrow take comfort form where they were touching.
