*Beside the Dying Fire* (Still not Danny's POV)

In Shane's SUV, Maggie and Glenn attempt to follow the truck but are cut off by walkers. Glenn instructs Maggie to retreat, but she's worried about the others. "It's lost.", Glenn yells. "Get off the farm now!" Maggie keeps protesting, but after a walker lands on their windshield, she panics and causes the car to lurch backwards, before driving out of the farm. Back at the house, Hershel continues to fend off walkers. Running out of ammo, Hershel steps back to reload as a stray walker creeps up on him. Just before he is bitten by the walker, Rick arrives and kills it, imploring to Hershel that they have to go. Along with Carl, they drive off from a group of walkers swarming up on them. Andrea tries to call out for Rick, but the snarls of the walkers dwarf her cry for help as they begin to swarm her. She flees on foot with the bag of guns. The last to be on the farm is Daryl, who watches the barn conflagration from afar, until he hears Carol's desperate screams. He drives to her aid, rescues Carol on his motorcycle, and they ride away. The barn continues to burn and eventually collapses; the RV is burned in the process. Hershel sadly takes one more look at his farm, now completely overrun, as they leave the property.

At dawn, Glenn and Maggie are driving down a dirt road. Glenn instructs her to circle back to the highway, but Maggie is too paralyzed with fear. Glenn assures Maggie that her family will be fine. "I love you.", he admits. "I should have said it a long time ago." Rick, Hershel and Carl return to the highway next to the car where they left supplies for Sophia. Carl wants to go back for Lori, but Rick is hesitant. "Why are we running?!", Carl screams at his father. Hershel assures Rick he's doing the right thing: "You've got to get your boy to safety.", he says, offering to stay behind to wait for the others. Rick insists they remain together.

Elsewhere, Lori insists that they head back to the highway but T-Dog states that they should head east towards the coast. Lori threatens to leave the truck unless he turns around and when she is close to actually doing so, he complies reluctantly. Rick is about to abandon the highway when he hears engines rumble in the distance: the other survivors' vehicles. After reuniting, Rick reports that Shane and Jimmy didn't make it; Lori is horrified by the news of Shane's death, but is glad that Carl is okay. Beth then reports Patricia's fate before Carol points out that Andrea might still be alive. Daryl prepares to find her when Rick stops him from leaving, saying "There's no way to find her.

Later, the other survivors caravan down a country road. Hershel's SUV runs out of gas and Rick declares they'll camp by the road and scavenge in the morning, but the others doubt him. "We found each other", against all odds, he insists. Rick does not allow anyone to leave and risk getting stranded without a car. Glenn counters that they're already stranded and even worse, walkers are everywhere. Rick believes there's a place where they can build a new life. "We just have to find it," he maintains. Hershel speaks up, hesitantly. "I know a place where we can go. It's another farm, but there's no animals and the barn is old and unused." Everybody looks at him with anticipation. Hershel continues, "I knew the people that lived there. If anybody's there now, it would be the grand-kids." Daryl crosses his arms. "How do we know if they're safe people?" Maggie shakes her head and interrupts. "They'll take us in, Danny won't be happy but James will take us in." Hershel nods, agreeing with Maggie. Rick sighs and looks around at everybody. "It's the only chance we've got guys."

Everybody nods in agreement. Before anybody can get into the cars that still have gas, Rick speaks again. "We're all infected," Rick murmurs loudly and solemnly. "At the CDC, Jenner told me. Whatever it is, we all carry it." The others become furious at Rick for keeping Jenner's secret, but Rick insists he had no way of knowing if it was true. Rick walks away from the group and Lori follows. "I killed him.", Rick admits to Lori about Shane. "He gave me no choice." he says "I wanted him dead," Rick says. "He turned. That's how I knew Jenner was right," Rick continues. "Carl put him down." Horrified, Lori backs away from Rick. He tries to touch her but she backs away, looking at him with anger for allowing Carl to kill Shane. Rick walks back over to the cars and gets in with Hershel, while Lori and Carl ride with Maggie and Glenn. And so, they all make there way towards the Miller farm.

(Danny's POV)

"Oh god, please no." I quickly run downstairs, almost falling a couple times. I run outside and to the fence. I run along the side of the fence and stop when I'm in front of the generator. I quickly turn the generator on and the fence buzzes as it comes alive. I run along the other fences and turn the generators on for them as well. I run back to the house and grab the sign from the porch. I run down the driveway to the gate and put the sign on the gate, making sure it won't fall off. The sign says ' WARNING! No Trespassing! Electric Fence is Deadly! And so is the Sniper!' I made the sign myself. I run back to the house and grab my sniper-rifle, going upstairs to one of the guest bedrooms and opening the window a little. I aim my rifle at the gate and grab the chair, setting it in front of the window and sitting down.

*Sometime later* (Daryls POV)

We stop in front of a gate with a sign on it. It looks like somebody made the sign themselves. I look up the driveway to the house and try to see if there's anybody here. Rick gets out of the car and looks at the sign with me. "Hershel said they'd let us stay." I shake my head at his remark and open the gate, letting the cars go in first. I shut the gate and make sure it's locked, don't want whoever lives here to hate us for leaving the gate open or unlocked. I follow the cars up the driveway and see that one of the second-floor windows is cracked open, with something poking out underneath it. I can't quit make out what it is from here, though. Suddenly, a woman comes out of the house holding a sawed-off-shotgun. She points it at us with a glare. 'If she shoots, I'll kill her. She's kinda hot though. No, stop thinking like that.' I shake my head of those thoughts and glare back at her, but she's glaring at Rick.

(Danny's POV)

I aim my shotgun at the man and glare at him. "Who the hell are y'all and why are ya here?" The man puts his hands up. "We mean you no harm Miss. One of our group told us about your farm and said we could stay here. You know Hershel?" I harden my glare at him. "Where is he?" The car door opens and Hershel steps out, standing next to the unknown man. "Danny, we need yours and your brothers help." I look away from them for a second, blinking away the tears and memory of James. I look back at the man and put my gun in its holster on my hip. "Y'all can stay for as long as ya want, but I got some rules." The man puts his hands back down to his sides. "We'll obey your rules, I'm Rick." I nod at him and cross my arms over my chest as more people get out of the cars. Rick introduces everybody except the Greene's, of course.

I uncross my arms and look at everybody. "I don't have enough rooms for everybody, so you're gonna have to pair up. That, you can figure out alone. My rules are simple. First, don't turn on any lights, I have candles instead. Second, don't go in the barn, it's old and could fall in on you at any minute. And lastly, somebody is going to be going with me when I go out for supplies. Deal?" Rick nods, "Deal." I nod and point to the barn. "You can park your vehicles in front of the barn. Then come inside, I'll make dinner." I go inside and go into the kitchen. I grab some pasta boxes and some unopened sauces. I begin boiling some water and make the pasta - spaghetti. I then get some dried vegetables and start cooking them as well. People start coming into the house and looking around. A woman, Carol I think was her name, comes into the kitchen and sees me cooking. "Would you like some help?" I glance at her and go back to cooking. "I'm fine, thank you though." She sighs and walks into the rest of the house with the others.
