~Chapter 23~

Present time ~ Jugheads POV ~ 13 March 2019 ~ 5 AM

"Jughead! Why are you calling me at five in the morning? I hope this is an emergency becau-..."

"It is Mrs. Cooper....it's Betty she's in the hospital"

"We'll be there in fifteen minutes"

"They're on their way", I told Toni, "You can go home if you want"

"No Jug look at you you're broken come here", she pulled me into a hug and rubbed my back.

"I'm gonna see if there's any information", I said and Toni nodded.

I walked towards the desk and asked the lady if she knew anything new about Betty. "No sir she's still in surgery, once she's out we have new information"

I wiped away my tears and walked back. Minutes past like they were hours and little by little I started to loose hope. Just then Mrs and Mr. Cooper bursted inside.

"Jughead Omg what happened?!" Alice exclaimed.

"Suddenly Betty wasn't sleeping next to me anymore so I checked her location and then found her in the woods. She had a large cut on her belly and some little cuts on her forehead. Also she was unconscious when we brought her in"

"I'm so sorry", I apologized, "I did everything I could"

Mr. Cooper walked over to me, "Of course you did don't be sorry. What about you, are you okay?", he asked.

"Physically yes but mentally", he looked down and let more tears escape my eyes. "Don't worry Betty will make it she so strong"

"I know but she looked so bad, I can't get that out of my mind", Toni stood now next to me and rubbed my back for support.

"Who are you?" Alice asked. "I'm Toni, a friend of Jugheads. Unfortunately I never met your daughter before but I hold my fingers crossed for you"

Closer to the morning I called Archie and Veronica who also came to the hospital in no time. We all sat in the waiting room for hours and no one knew what to say.

"Did you asked her what happened?" Veronica suddenly asked to break the silence.

"Huh what?" I lifted my head up that I had hid in my hand the whole time.

"You said you don't know what happened, did you asked her?" I nodded my head, not wanting to talk much.

"And what did she say?"

"Nothing"

"She said nothing?" Archie joined confused.

"Not about what happened she only said she loved me and that I needed to take care of Kaylee. What does she mean by that?"

Archie and Veronica exchanged looks, "Thanks for the answer", I sighed. They seemed to know more about it but before I could ask another question a female doctor approached us.

"Hi I'm doctor Anderson are you Betty's parents?" She asked Alice and Hal.

"Yes how is she?" Alice asked worried.

"Betty is doing just fine-...", I sighed out of relief as she said those words, "...-She just got out of surgery which was successful. We stitched up the wound on her belly and gave her extra blood. On her head we had to remove a few pieces of glass and then we also stitched up those cuts. No vital organs were hit but she does have a mild concussion"

"When can we see her?" I asked.

She turned to me, "Betty is now in a normal room but since she's not awake yet only her parents can go inside. Once she's awake the rest of you can also see her but not everyone at the same time, that can be overwhelming"

What the hell! I spent the whole night there worrying about her and now I'm not allowed to see her?!

I was furious on the inside but I didn't showed it so I just nodded me head and looked how Mrs. and Mr. Cooper got guided to her room.

"She's okay Jughead isn't that great!?" Veronica exclaimed.

"I wanna see that she's okay with me own eyes", I mumbled.

I lifted up my head to see mr. Cooper who signaled me to follow him. I jumped up and literally ran towards him, "Betty's waking up", he said happy.

We reached her room pretty quick but waited outside because she probably wanted alone rime with her mom.

I looked through the glass from the door and saw Mrs. Cooper taking off the heavy oxygen mask that Betty had on her face. She flickered with her eyes and then opened them fully.

With a confused look on her face she looked around and touched her head. After a couple seconds she figured out she was in the hospital and she had a bandage on her head and a big one on her belly.

"Mom where..where's-...", She panicked and turned to Alice, the door was ajar so I could hear what they were saying.

"Shh...", Alice gently pushed her down and kissed her cheek, "...I brought her to Cheryl"

Who were they talking about? I definitely missed something really important but I couldn't remember that Betty told me about it so...

I turned around and looked at Hal but he probably didn't overheard the conversation between his wife and daughter.

Then Alice came outside and told me it was my turn, FINALLY!! I was really happy and overwhelmed with excitement but once I grabbed the handle of the door I knew I needed to be calm.
