THE YOUNG GIRL LOOK at Anna trying to figure out where she comes from,she suddenly gasped remembering her brother's warning and tried closing the door but Anna put her legs between the door stopping the young fellow from closing the door
"Take your leg!"the little girl cried and Anna can see she's not more than five or six years old
"Hey baby girl! I'm not here to harm you I'm a friend of your brother"she said not really sure if she can call herself Dami's friend
"He don't have female friends"the little girl said frowning and Anna can see how smart she really is
"He has one now and that's me,let me in"Anna said sweetly
"No"the girl said trying to close the door again but Anna didn't let her
"I mean no harm angel,I promise you just let me in"Anna said and the girl remain quiet for awhile thinking about letting her in and following her brother's order,he vividly told her never to let a stranger into the house,the little girl stomach suddenly grumbled and she hide her face away looking shy
"Are you hungry?"Anna asked but she chooses not to answer
"Please let me help you"Anna said starting to get tired of the girl adamant behaviours, the little girl nodded finally giving in into Anna's pressure she's a little girl and she's hungry so it's easy to get her to agree
Anna opened her school bag and brought out the sandwich she planned to eat during break period but she couldn't because she was busy inviting people for her house party
The little girl devoured the sandwich without wasting time and Anna can see how hungry she is,she picked the girl who finally succeeded trusting her and made their way inside the house
The house was very old and look poor,there was an old student bed at a side,a Ghana must go small bag she believes belong to Dami and she's sure that's where they kept their clothings,a plastic chair and that was all nothing else,no carpet no rug and she wondered where Dami's parent are
"Where are your parents?"Anna asked and the girl look at Anna like she has lost it
"Dami is the only one I got"the girl replied after awhile,Anna believed she's not going to answer but she eventually did
"Are you still hungry?"Anna asked her heart aching,she didn't believe people lived this poor,she always thought people were like her and even if people are poor but not to this extent
"Yes"the girl replied meekly and Anna got sad
"When last did you eat?"Anna asked
"I ate this morning"the girl replied
"And what's that?"Anna asked
"A slice of bread,Dami said he will bring a new bread soon"she said smiling widely and Anna's heart ache the more,she is a type to usually waste foods and don't give a fuck about it but right now she knows how wrong that act is when there are thousands of people out there that can't provide for themselves
"Do you know the way to the market?"Anna asked and the girl nodded yes
"So before we go,what's your name?"Anna asked smiling
"Rachel or Damilare"she said smiling and Anna fell in love with her
"I'm Johanna and you can call me Anna,I will be calling you sunshine"Anna said and the girl wondered why this stranger wants to call her sunshine
"Why do you want to call me sunshine?"the girl asked and Anna picked her leaving the house
"Because your smile shines brighter shaming the sun,you are a sunshine"Anna replied and the girl smiled widely,surely she don't understand what Anna said but she knew she meant well
