DULCIS

The cerulean sky was turned into an orange one. The masses of puffy clouds surrounded the sun. The sun almost touched the horizon and somehow the rays hit the surface of the water creating its own reflection. The sun may be setting but it can still illuminate the place, making the outcome vivid. The beach is still clear and waves are coming towards the shoreline. The water seems to be shining and shimmering because of its natural view. The serenity is felt just seeing this kind of scenery.

"Jean Tovin, you're hugging me tight... Let me breathe!" sabi kong natatawa. His guitar fell off the sand. He remained stoic when it dropped but not until he decided to wrap his arms around me, making me hard to breathe.

He chuckled. I found it irritating. Why is he embracing me anyway? I bit my lower lip when I realized that my body reacted peculiarly. My knees trembled like a jelly. My chest and his coalesced and felt his heavy breathing. He probably felt my chest from its thugs! Oh my God! I am about to shove him from me but he had moved away before I could. His palms rested on both of my shoulders.

"I..."

He gulped anxiously as if he is about to deliver a report in front of multitude. However, I began to get nervous, too. Oh what is going on? We're driving unfathomable here. I wanna run and hide right now. Jeez, stop smashing my chest! Whoever this invisible creature teasing me inside my head, you'll be six feet under I swear!

"Dulcis..."

My heart... Am I ill? Good Lord, what is this? My heart raced hastily like it is running from a foe.

"Hindi man naging maganda ang first meeting natin... Please, Dulcis, let me stay with you..."

His hands from my shoulders trailed down to my hands, clasping mine. We have the same arctic hands. Naloloka na talaga ako dahil sa nangyayari sa amin. He cracked a weak smile, releasing my hands, shaking those two afterwards as if it became scruffy because of my hands. He made a face. Pinasadahan ko tuloy ng tingin ang dalawang kamay ko.

"Marumi ba ang kamay ko?"

"A-ano? H-hindi ah!"

"Then why--"

"Shhh! Dulcis, shhh!"

Kumunot ang noo ko sa ginagawa niya. He looked so tense. "Oh! Nilalamig din pala ang mga kamay mo? Have you felt mine?"

He eyed on me and frowned. "Syempre. Tss... I'm not numb." Umirap pa siya. B efore I could say anything, people around us kept on murmuring.

"Uy! Siya ba iyong nerd kanina?"

"Look at her!"

"She's a total opposite!"

"Maganda siya!"

"At kasama niya... si Tovin?!"

Am gonna explode right now because of nervousness. Oh my... People around me made my body tingle and I don't why. They disturb my psyche.

"Tss... sabi ko na eh. Dapat 'di mo pa tinanggal ang mga--"

"Let them see who I am, what I am."

He guided me to squat on the sand, away from the water of course. He searched for the musical instrument and faced me. Oh, vis-à-vis.

"And speaking of that, huwag mo ngang ibaba iyang sarili mo," he said. Kumunot ang noo ko. "Bawas bawasan mo nga iyang pagkunot mo ng noo. Magkaka-wrinkles ka ng maaga niyan." I fondled my forehead and I made a face.

I stared intently at him when I was taken back with my sanity. "What will be then? Be proud of my werewolf transformation?"

"I accept that fact, Dulcis. I know people around you will accept you, too, like I did. Don't worry."
