Peter was in the lab, looking intensely at the test tube filled with substance. It's been about three hours and he was still working on that cure for Tombstone and his men. It just about had him pulling his hair out of his scalp. Guess it was a good thing that Ted had the day off today.
As Peter poured the last ingredient into the tube, he failed to realize that a certain red head had snuck into the laboratory with a giant smile on her face. She analyzed the look of concentration on Peter's face as he was hunched over the table, staring directly at the tube.
'Cute as always.' Mera thought to herself as she stopped in her tracks. As much as she wanted to hug him, she didn't want to disrupt his work. A mistake could occur and then Peter would be blamed for the mess, all because of her. So for the time being, she waited for him to finish. Luck was on her side though, for she didn't have to wait too long.
"Bingo!" Peter said with a fist pump into the air. Mera giggled at his reaction, causing Peter to swerve around to her in surprise. "Mera! Geez!" he said, placing a hand to his heart.
"Sorry Peter. I didn't want to disrupt you. Plus you look cute when you're focused." Mera said, once her laughter subsided. She then stepped closer to him to give him a kiss. "So have you done it?" she asked, referring to the tube still on the table.
"I believe so." Peter said, looking back at it. "The only thing left to do is to test it."
"Well for that we'll need Tombstone right?" Mera asked. Peter nodded. "Well when his men turn up again, we'll make them talk. In the meantime......" she trailed off, putting on a seductive smile. Peter inwardly blushed at the sight, knowing what she was about to say. "Why don't we pick up where we left off last......UGH!!" she shouted, holding her stomach again.
Peter quickly came and supported her as she hunched over in pain. "Mera, what's wrong?" he asked in a panicked tone.
"The cramping. It's happening again." Mera said in pain.
Peter held Mera as he guided her over to the table. He then yanked a chair from the table and then put right behind Mera. Slowly, but surely, with Peter's help, Mera lowered herself into the chair as the pain started to subside.
"Alright. These cramps have been going on since yesterday. We've gotta get you checked out." Peter said, placing a hand on Mera's shoulder. "For all we know, something bad could be happening to you right now"
"I know." Mera muttered, looking down at the floor. Even though her voice was low, Peter could instantly tell something about it. Her voice had a tone of fear etched into it. Of course it did, there was something wrong with her and she doesn't know what it is or why it's happening to her. "We'll go to Atlantis first thing tomorrow." she added.
"No, no, no. We're not waiting." Peter said stepping around and crouching in front of her to looker her in the eye. "We are going now. No arguments."
Mera could tell by the sound of his voice alone that Peter was not making it a debate. In addition he was also wearing the most serious face that she had ever seen. She didn't want to draw Peter away from his job, but he made it clear that that's what he's gonna do now, so she just nodded her head.
"I've got it." Mera said in a sharper tone than she intended once Peter tried to help her out of the chair. She didn't need anyone to help her up, even if she's in pain. But that didn't stop her from being frustrated with herself for snapping at Peter. Fortunately Peter disregard it and continued to pack up his supplies as well as the potential cure.
"Alright. To the submarine." Peter said, leading Mera out of the lab room.
