You had manage to find a time when no one was in the house, meaning the living room was completely free - you needed a large area to practice your dancing for your friend's wedding. She had asked you to be a bridesmaid, which you were humbled to be, but it also meant that you would have to do a slow dance with one of the groomsmen as tradition. The main problem you had was the fact you had never danced before, and the late night/3am unable to sleep dancing on your own to some old school music didn't really count as practice.

You looked up a few videos on YouTube on your laptop, they all looked reasonably easy. So you left your laptop open with the video on mute and plugged your phone into the set of speakers and played some of your own music.

After a while your frustration was building, you had seen the beginning 3 minutes of one video too many times. So you decided to click through and find a different demonstration. You heard the door to the room click and you quickly spun around, meeting the eyes of a wide-eyed Ted, looking similar to a deer in headlights as he leant against the now closed door.

"How long have you been there?" you asked as a blush grew on your cheeks, brushing some flyaway hairs behind your ear as you stood to face him.

"A few minutes. I was about to go to the kitchen but I heard some music coming from down the hall.."

"I thought I was home alone.." you muttered embarrassed, but kind of glad it was Ted that found you dancing and not Coop or Travis- they would have never let you live it down.

"Mind if I watch?" Ted asked with a small grin, his eye brow raised which fluttered your heart. You shrugged and nodded slowly,

"As long as you don't film me" you stated, pointing your finger at the man as he took a seat on a chair nearby, holding his empty hands up in innocent before shooting you another sweet smile.

You took a deep breath and tried to ignore the fact Ted was watching you. It's just practice, you said to yourself, there's going to be a room full of people that I'll have to dance in front of.

You tried a few twirls, following the steps that the girl was doing in the video, but somehow you kept standing on your own toes. You didn't feel like you looked right when you lifted your arms or when you did the slightest move. An annoyed groan left your lips, tugging at your hair as you rewound the video a few seconds to repeat the step. Once more you stumbled, a loud sigh filling the room,

"How am I ever going to slow dance when I have two left feet!" your voice was irritated and stubborn. Your legs carried you to the couch where you flopped down on it, crossing your arms over your chest while you stared at the ground.

Ted sighed from across the room, seeing you so defeated saddened him. All he wanted was to see you smile. He got up off the stool and walked over to the stereo, plugging his phone in and playing some sweet and slow music. Then he turned to look at you, a small grin on his lips.

"What are you doing?" you asked cautiously, watching as his taller frame walked closer to you.

"I'm going to teach you how to dance, come here" Ted said, his voice and eyes soft. He rolled up the sleeve of his sweatshirt before extending out his arm and opening his hand for you to take. You blushed and stood, lightly taking his hand which he quickly moved so he could hold it properly, folding his fingers over yours. He stepped closer to you, grabbing your other hand and placing it on his shoulder before placing his hand on the small of your back. As you shakily breathed, trying to calm the rate of your heart, his cologne filled your senses, making you suddenly feel weak at the knees.

"What if I stand on your toes?" You asked in a hushed and slightly embarrassed voice, looking down to where your feet where.

Ted bent his head down so he would grab your attention, his breath lightly fanning over your face. You looked up and he smiled,

"I have 10, I'm sure I can spare a few of them" he replied, making you chuckle.

The music continued to play softly. His hand on your back stroking gently at the fabric of your garment but you felt the heat through the cloth. He moved around slowly and somehow guiding you, your feet traveling in time around the room. Your eyes never left his, taking in the true colours they showed while you were this close and intimate, a small smile toying at his lips as he watched your cheeks blush.

"Why did you try to learn to dance alone?" He quizzed, changing the direction of your dancing,

"I don't know" you shrugged, taking your eyes away from his for a few seconds as you looked at your positioning, trying to remember it for the actual day, but your brain was full of thoughts about Ted instead. He then spun you out slightly, spinning you back in and placing his hand back onto your skin "I don't meet the guy I'm dancing with till the actual day, let alone get to practice with him before"

Ted just nodded in response, closing his eyes as he listened to the music and let it control his movements. You couldn't help but take in all his features, like the way his lashes curled underneath his glasses or the light pink that covered his cheeks, the slight chapped areas of his lips, or how soft his skin looked.

Ted's eyes opened to see yours scanning his face, and in that moment he swore you had never looked so beautiful. He didn't know why it only hit him in this moment; maybe it was the sweet smell of your perfume, the simple but stunning way you looked, the bright colour of your eyes or maybe it was even the way your hands felt against his skin that he never wanted to let go of. He moved his fingers so they were interlocked with yours, your eyes wandering towards them and a smile creeping up on your lips. He then spun you out again, as you came back into his embrace he dipped you down, one arm holding you up and the other hand now holding your cheek. You could have sworn you'd never felt this breathless before, your heart pumping against your ribcage as Ted lowered his face closer to yours.

As instinct your eyes fluttered closed, lips pressing against yours, your hands reaching up to hold his face against yours. Gently your fingers brushed the skin of his face, his stubble tickling the pads of your thumbs. As he started to lean back up, you followed him, bringing yours lips back together as soon as you stood up straight. His hands now at your waist and cheek, rough thumb stroking the skin by your ear and his other gripped the cloth over you skin for dear life.

You broke apart, breathless, inches from each other still, able to feel each others desperate breathes against your skin. Your hands still held his face, fingers slightly playing with his hair as did his in yours.

"When did you say the wedding was?" Ted asks quietly, voice deep as it rumbled from his throat through his breathing.

"A few weeks yet" you muttered, looking between his lips and his eyes, darker yet softer than before as his mirrored your actions.

"Good, 'cause I think you need a few more lessons" he said, leaning down once more to capture your lips, fighting against your smile at his comment to feel his lips against yours.
