"We both tried to jump off a roof," I move my hands to the other side. "And into a swimming pool?"
"Yes," Allmight nods,
"And she, after seeing me fail, and get fucked up worse than humanly possible in that scenario, jumped after me."
"Sounds like something I would do." Mina nods,
"I don't believe you."
Allmight stiffens, "Oh?"
"I don't see how all that shit could have happened, how did I get fucked up enough for some big time company to feel sorry for me and give me a car? What happened to Greenie, and before you say anything about us putting him up on a roof with us, you better rethink that."
"I doesn't matter, Greenie is fine, and you both got offered a scholarship a few towns over to play football, and to be on the cheerleading squad."
"I don't wanna be a fucking hawk I want to be a hero." I retort.
"Kirishima I know you've been happy at this school but a scholarship would be good for you."
" Well fuck you I already took out a loan for this place."
"And our friends are here." Mina adds,
"Ah, Kaminari, and Sero, both star soccer players, I'm sure they can apply for a scholarship at the other college too."
"You're hittin' a dead end Allmight."
"Yeah I can't move to another town, who's gonna sell..... Napkins?"
"Real smooth Mina."
"Shut up Kirishima."
"Are you both sure?" Allmight questions.
"Yeah," I answer,
"Yep," Mina chirps.
"All right then," he stands, then exits."KIRISHIMAAAAAA!" I never expect who busts through the door, to bust through the door.
"Bakugo?" He leaps onto my bed, hospital gown flying,
"You idiot are you okay!?"
"Uh, yeah Mr.Quarterback sir?" I shrug, the blonde pauses,
"What did you just call me?"
I shrink away, "Mr. Quarterback?"
He snatches me up by the shirt, "Kat-Suki!" His nose is almost touching mine, "You call me Katsuki!"
"Katsuki, Katsuki, okay, okay,"
"Kacchan!" Midoriya runs into the room also in a hospital gown, "Remember what Allmight said!"
"Like I'd forget you idiot!" Bakugo turns back to me, "I just want to know when my running back is gonna be back in the game."
"I get out of here tomorrow, I'll be back before the end of the week." I'm pushed back down into the bed.
"I get outta here tomorrow too," he leans down to my ear. "You, me, dinner, tomorrow." My heart thuds in my chest, which Bakugo still had his hand on. He leans back, pecking my cheek as he sits up. "Text me when you're out."
"Okay?" He nods then unstraddles me and hops off the bed, the hospital gown allows me quite the view as he walks away.
"What the fuck was that?" Mina asks,
"I have no idea, think it has something to do with Allmight being weird?"
"Well, I think Bakugo was weirder."
"I'm glad he wasn't Bakugo's type of weird."
Mina shudders, "No shit I think I'd rather die."
"Me too."How long had it been, a two months maybe? So far at least. Bakugo had taken me to dinner every night since we got out, he'd bring along homework sometimes, sometimes a playbook if we just went right after practice. I have no idea what sprung this sudden friendship, but I appreciate it. Two months later here we were, ice cream melting as he explains the play for the millionth time.
"Still don't follow."
"What?" As usual his firsthand nature is to scream. I hide my smile behind my ice cream,
"Yeah can you g-o over it again." The charade was up, damn voice crack ruining the fun. Bakugo looks up at me and my shaking shoulders, face completely blank. I can't help it I let loose with a loud cackle. Bakugo takes a swipe at me I lean back, and it hits my ice cream slapping it against the wall. I'm uncontrollably laughing, arms wrapped around my gut. Bakugo snatches my shirt. "Dude get off the table-!" Crack!
Bakugo tumbles onto the floor, table crashing along with him.
I'm crying on the floor still by the time Bakugo is done paying for the table, he grabs the back of my shirt and yanks me up, giggling and wiping my eyes I follow him out of the store. Finally I stop, only to burst again when I think of Bakugo's expression as the table went down. "Oi shut up!"
"I'm sorry" I say giggling. "That was fucking priceless,"
"And your fault," he growls, I chuckle. The light starts to die down, almost night but not quite there. Bakugo stomps ahead.
"So where are we going?"
"Fountain."
"There's like three."
"The one in the pond."
"The one that's shut down for the season?" Bakugo nods, pulling his jacket closer around him.
"S'almost Halloween time, you decided on a costume yet?"
My face heats up, my hand flies to the back of my neck and I mumble out: "Probably a cop."
Bakugo stops on his tracks, he turns only his shoulders to look at me, feet planted.
"Seriously?"
"What?"
"You're gonna be a cop in a couple months, and you wanna be a cop for Halloween?"
"What's wrong with that?" I brush past him.
"Nothing I suppose," he chuckles, "good cop or bad cop?"
"Shut up."
"Naughty cop?"
"I said shut up Katsuki." I stuff my hands into my pockets.
"Don't tell me you were actually thinking-" he screams with laughter, "No fucking way and you were laughing at me for breaking a table?"
I puff out my cheeks and hunch,
"Buzz off." I receive a whap to my back,
"I'm messing, can't have ya getting cocky right?" I roll my eyes, "Well you're gonna have to rethink your costume."
"What, why?" Bakugo doesn't respond, just hurries to the pond bank and sits down. I trot up and plunk beside him, wrinkling my nose at a brisk wind. "Why'd you bring me here?" I question, trying to catch Bakugo's eye, they stay trained down at the grass.
"Eijiro, why'd you follow me?"
"Because we're hanging out, duh." Finally he looks up, eyes shining,
"Why are you hanging out with me?"
"I'd like to get to know you better bro! Despite that rough shit you got on the outside your a big softie." I reach out and touch my fingertips to his cheek, "is something wrong Bakugo?" He shakes,
"Call me Katsuki, please," there's a wobble in his voice.
"Why are you so insistent on that Baku- Katsuki?"
He shrugs, "Sounds better I guess." He leans forward shedding his jacket,
"What are you doing?" Off comes his shirt, "Katsuki!" I blush as he undoes his belt, I rush forward, "Hey!" Pants gone and suddenly into the lake, "Bakugo!" I scream, running to the waters edge. I rip off my jacket, off with the rest and jump. I dive under looking for anything in the inky blackness, and I see a small shimmer, it grows into an orange and whit tail, glimmering and illuminating Bakugo's top half. I choke back my shocked bubbles, and he flicks his tail, in a second face even with mine. His eyes search mine for a second, looking, expecting? Before ultimately his brows furrow and he hauls me up to the surface.
"What the hell was that?" I gasp,
"I think you know,"
"How are you a merman?" I cling to him, feeling his tail swishing to keep us afloat.
"When a mommy and daddy-,"
"Dude it was amazing." I interrupt. He looks into my eyes, his wide. "That was the coolest thing I've ever seen,-" his grip on me tightens, "-You're spectacular Bakugo." He grimaced, eyes watering, he puts his head in my chest. "Did I say something wrong?" I only get a sob in response. "Hey," I coo, stroking his hair, "it's okay man." He sobs harder.
"It's not okay, why'd they have to-" he catches himself, his red eyes look up into mine. He pulls me down into a kiss, wet and sloppy, but not unsatisfying.
"Wait, is that your way of actually asking me out?" I'm joking, but the look on Bakugo's face makes me wish I'd kept my mouth shut.
"No dumbass, I'm just, I thought it would console me."
"Did it work?"
"No."
I nod, "sorry." I loosen my grip on him, "C'mon, let's go over to Mina's, she has something that'll console ya a bit."Wow, for anyone reading, splash green is finally almost done, thank you, I'll upload the last chapter soon.
