Terrors towards the city had come and gone throughout the 3 years the heroes began. Through it all, the unlikely group of fighters had stayed together.

Logan and Remus had joined one of the best colleges in their area, after moving into an apartment in the heart of the city. Patton and Roman decided to start a bakery when they became 20 and after one year, it had gotten quite the popular place. After much deciding, both Janus and V had decided to go to the same community college near the edge of the city. This is where we carry on...

Virgil was sitting in a desolate park, with only his headphones and masses of work to keep him company. It was a cold, winter's day and the exact day schools had shut for Christmas. Him and his 'roommate' (Janus) were planning to head back to celebrate Christmas in the heart of the city, with V's parents. The wind was whistling, tussling his hair back and forth, thoroughly annoying him. Each time he pulled up his hood, it would blow down, annoying him even further. He looked up from the last sentence he wrote too see the sun setting, possibly the best one he had ever seen. Soft colours filled the sky and the air felt clean.

He was just enjoying this as he put all his work away, turning up his headphones as he did so. This made him unable to hear the footsteps edging closer. He sat back after and turned his head to the left.
"HOLY SHIT!" he yelled, falling off the bench when he saw Janus next to him, "you motherfucker!" Janus just rolled his eyes before offering a gloved hand to the man. Virgil looked sceptical at this since every other time he had been offered by the reptilian man, he was betrayed into falling back down. Although all of this, he still put his hand in his. By the darker man's surprise, he wasn't dropped once again.

"Okay what's with you?" V asked. Janus had been acting strange around him for quite sometime now. It possibly started first year of college and at first it was funny to Virgil too see the man go red, but now it deeply worried him. Something that Virgil hadn't realised was that he to acted the exact same. Maybe it was the biting wind or the chilling air but when he placed his hand into his, he could swear that his face was red. In actual fact, he looked like an emo tomato. He sat back down quietly, considerably closer to the hat-wearing man than one would if they were just 'friends'. Something that scared Virgil was when Janus took a deep breath, getting prepared to speak.

"Virgil, how you doing?" He asked politely, his heart beating rapidly. His hand was also edging slightly closer to V's every second. Unknowingly, the two hands met on the cold, forest green metal bench. Neither seemed to notice and if the did, neither seemed to care or wish to move them. The sun was becoming lower in the sky and V realised he should probably answer Janus' question.
"Fine, how about you?"
"Nervous..." Janus stated, trailing off at the 's'. This greatly worried the other adult, who significantly moved closer.
"What about?" Virgil asked in a hurry, tripping over every single letter. Janus looked as though he was avoiding the question as the two fell silent.
1 minute...

2 minutes...

All the way too 3 minutes...

"Umm... oh god," the scaled man began, raking a hand through his hair as his heart thumped louder.
"Oh fuck... umm I," his words got stuck in his throat, wishing for god to strike him down.
"I," he took a deep breath," I like you." The man was basically whispering, ready to just get his heartbroken. This was the exact moment V realised what he had been feeling. His ears were bright red and he looked at the man for a split second. He patted his shoulder, causing the shape shifting hero to look up. He quickly embraced him, now fully red in the face.

"Right back at you," V said as he hugged the 5'8 man, close enough to feel the other's shuddering heartbeat.
"Took you guys FUCKING long enough!" a voice from behind them exclaimed before being muffled by a hand and a familiar chuckle.   They turned around, hand-in-hand, and saw Logan with a hand over Remus' mouth and Roman hugging Patton to try and stay warm.
"How... did you guys... know where we were?" V asked, seemingly confused and Janus scratched the back of his neck.
"Janus was to lazy to drive so he asked us to pick you guys up!" Patton said cheerfully, getting a small laugh out of Virgil.

Christmas was spent well, all of them agreed. It was a family. An odd one but still. They all spent Christmas Day at V's parents' house since their other relatives were far way or 6 feet under. This was the beginning of many adventures with these 6 oblivious fools.
