Kyle pov
Jess walked into my house, she had gone out earlier to look for Alec after the whole ordeal of yesterday. The rest of the guys, Ethan and Colin were also at my place sprawled out in my living room. I knew texts and calls were coming from Cecilia but the rest of us hadn't really paid attention to it. We were preoccupied with making sense of what even happened yesterday. I'm sure Cecilia is worried too and wants some explanation because if I were her I would definitely be confused. But now wasn't really a good time. I was especially worried about Jess.My gaze met Jess's as she plopped herself down on the sofa next to me. She then tore her gaze away from mine and stared into the abyss, "He was crying," she paused for a second, "He was crying," she repeated again.
The sound from the TV in the living room filled out the spaces of silence. Ethan and Colin had wasted away and now were passed out on the floor on top of the rug that was placed in the living space.
A sigh escaped out of Jess, "I know Alec's not the one to open up easily but... in an instant he told her things that would probably take us years to uncover or heck! Who knows, probably even never!" Her face scrunched up as she squeezed her eyes shut and furrowed her eyebrows.
I don't blame Jess for feeling frustrated. The same frustration could honestly be shared within us but each one of us had their own secrets to hold onto didn't we?
She opened her eyes again, her eyebrows still furrowed and it swelled up with tears.
I wanted to say something but I couldn't as I felt my chest tightening up. Seeing someone you like... crying about someone else felt like a jab.
"Is she that special to him?" Jess turned to face me. She bit her bottom lip as her eyes grew more red and the swelled up tears that edged to fall, eventually rolled down her rosy cheeks. Taking in short sharp breaths, "Why?" the question lingered out of her mouth, "Why not me? It stings," her voice finally cracked and let out a soft mumble, "Dammit." And her head swung low facing the front while her hands came up to cover her face.
I pulled her into my chest and wrapped my arms around her, enveloping her whole body into a hug. A sigh escaped my mouth, was it disappointment? Or a sympathetical sigh to tell her I sympathise for you. Would it be an asshole thing to admit maybe my sigh leaned more on feeling disappointed that her tears are running down for someone other than myself?
"It's alright... let it all out. I'm here..." I said as I lightly patted her small back. Her soft sniffles turned into a slight wail.
Ethan got woken up by it, opening an eye only at first and with a sleepy, roughed up voice asked, "What happened?" He soon rubbed his eyes.
I shook my head, "Nothing. Just go back to sleep."
His gaze landed on Jess crying into my chest and raised an eyebrow, "Jess sad?" Ever so wobbly, Ethan got up from the floor and waddled his way to us, plopping himself down on the sofa and with a sleepy drunk expression wrapped his arm around us. I crooked an irritated smile. The fuck is happening?
"Colin you bastard!" Ethan yelled out.
Colin had now woken up with his usual nonchalant expression.
"The least you can do is give Jess a hug at this moment!" Ethan yelled again. This dumbass doesn't even know what Jess is upset about and his drunk ass is already making this worse than it should be.
"You better come here and give her a hug or Imma snitch on you to your girl," Ethan continued.
My gaze landed back on Colin, he looked somewhat pissed with his eyebrows furrowed and eyes narrowed. Almost glaring at Ethan, his mouth twitched to say something but he kept quiet and tightened his lips in a straight line. Rolling his eyes in defeat, he stood up and walked towards us.
