The sun was up, high in the sky and the heat was causing Abigail to sweat. Ella was still asleep. Abigail looked at her surroundings. No sign of her parents, Ella's parents or the disgusting, diseased creatures. While she was looking around she noticed that the sun wasn't where she expected. She looked at her watch then in the sky. The sun was in the middle of the sky and her watch was telling her twelve fifty seven.
"Ella! Ella! Wake up!" She yelled, "Oh my gosh. How!" Ella sat up, "Chill out, Abigail. What's happening?" Abigail looked at her, "It's one o'clock!" Ella looked at the sky, "Bit bright for the middle of the night." Ella said sarcastically. Abigail looked at her as if she was stupid, "One o'clock day time, not night time." Ella stood up, "Yeah, yeah. I know."
They packed there stuff and started to walk alongside the road. The road was long and it was hot and humid weather. The girls were both sweating uncontrollably but they kept on going, ignoring the stench they had on them. In the situation they were in, their smell was the least of their worries.
They travelled along long roads that seemed endless. Every now and then they would stop at houses to check if they were suitable to stay the night. None of the houses seemed to match Ella's or Abigail's standards so they kept on moving.
The houses would smell like somebody had urinated in every corner of it, most looked like they had been abandoned during the dinosaur times. Either way, they didn't look or smell healthy, so the girls ignored them.
Every now and then they would hear noises. They would freak out and overreact. Sometimes they would run for a while, hoping whatever made the noise was gone. "We're just being paranoid. The noises could even just be a lizard or something." Ella said. "I don't like lizards much anyway." Abigail replied. "Next time, let's just not freak out. Stay calm and act like it was nothing, because one hundred percent of the time it is nothing." A stick snapped in a bush nearby and the girls started sprinting off without questioning it. Once they got away, Abigail said, "I think we handled that well." "Extremely well." Ella responded.
"Where are we going. We ran away, but where too?" Ella asked after a few hours of silent walking. "I don't know. Anywhere." Abigail responded. "We need somewhere to go. We need something to do, keep us from dying of boredom." Ella stated. "Yeah, kill these diseased things." Abigail suggested.
They walked for a bit more before hearing another noise. It was a moan from behind a nearby house. They were now walking through a small town. Ella and Abigail assumed it to be a diseased. But to their surprise, it wasn't a diseased, it was about two dozen of them. "So.. Should we freak out and run from that noise or stick around and like stupidly get ourselves killed?" Ella asked. "Thought we might stick around, ya know?" Abigail said sarcastically. They both started sprinting away from the diseased.
They looked back every now and then to see if they were still following. Every time they looked the diseased seemed to be getting closer, but their numbers also seemed to get smaller. They ran for about fifteen minutes before becoming to tired, so they had to slow down. The diseased seemed to be able to run for a long period of time as they were not even close to being puffed out or tired.
For some reason, their was only seven of the diseased left. Weather they had been left behind for being to slow or magically disappeared into thin air. Abigail and Ella both had no idea.
The diseased were about seventy metres away and Abigail and Ella. The girls were to tired to move anymore. Seven diseased running towards them. One tripped and never managed to recover and get up. So did another. Five left, but Abigail and Ella didn't understand how they were so clumsy. Another diseased down. "Four left. Know how to fight?" Abigail asked. "The chances of me knowing to fight are about the same as one of these things turning human again." Ella replied. "Do you?" Ella asked. "Max taught me a few things."
The diseased were only about ten metres away now and another one fell. Except something had hit him. It had been hit in the head with some sort of arrow. "Someone's following us." Ella shouted. She had distracted Abigail from her fighting stance, causing both of them to be attacked by the diseased.
Abigail pushed with all her strength, trying to remove the diseased from on top of her. Close up, it was a lot uglier then Abigail thought. It's teeth were already stained yellow and it's breath stank of dead animals. It's eyes were pure black and it's skin was pale with a light shade of green. It's mouth was frothing and saliva from the diseased was dripping on Abigail's face. She kept trying to push it off but she wasn't strong enough and she was getting tired.
The arrow hit Ella's first, then another hit the one standing with nobody to attack, then another arrow shot the one on top of Abigail. They girls looked around, attempting to find the source of the arrows. They looked at the arrows and found the direction they had came from. Then they saw him.
