Max and Freak went back to Max's old house first. His bedroom was a mess, but he just ignored it, he knew where everything was that way.
He always had a few hidden weapons incase he got into any trouble. He had four throwing knives hidden, sticky taped to the roof of his top draw. He also had a crowbar hidden under his mattress and a pistol in one of his old hunting bags.
With these weapons available, he decided to salvage a few edible items that would last a while without rotting. He also grabbed a few bottles of cold water from the fridge.
That was when Max realised that the power was still on and working. Did that mean the internet was working too? Could he contact any other survivors? He dropped everything and ran to the closest computer. He turned it on, looked to see if it had any connection to the internet. It did.
Max first checked Facebook to see if anybody had posted or made contact with him in the past few hours, unfortunately, nothing. He checked his emails, his twitter, he even searched the house for his phone and searched his text messages. He found nothing.
Max wasn't sure weather it was just a false signal, everybody was to dead to contact him or nobody cared to contact him. Either way, it wasn't good, because he had no way of finding anybody that could help him find Abigail.
Abigail, maybe she was at home hiding, maybe she was fighting of hoards of diseased or maybe she was dead. Either way he was going to find her. He gathered everything he needed from his house, including Freak, and set off to Abigail's house.
As he wandered the streets, he noticed that there was still nobody around. He tried to stay concentrated on being prepared incase anything jumped out at him but his ADHD wasn't playing along.
He arrived at Abigail's house unharmed.
He knocked on the door, even though he didn't expect anyone to answer. After knocking a few more times and waiting a few more minutes, Max let himself in.
Naturally, he found himself in the kitchen first looking for food and water. He didn't find much as most of it had been taken already, so he moved on to Abigail's room.
He slowly opened the door expecting Abigail to be hidden in a corner, crying. Unfortunately, he had no such luck. He searched around for a while looking for a note or something to indicate she was alive, but he found nothing.
He found Freak drinking water from the toilet, he let Freak drink for a bit more before saying, "Come on boy, time to go." Freak obeyed him. Freak seemed to have been trained by his previous owners to obey orders well because he was taking them from a complete stranger.
The living room was the first room as you would enter the front door. Freak jumped up on the couch and looked out the window while Max walked over to the door slowly with a look of disappointment on his face. Freak barked once. Max looked at him for a moment, ignored it and kept walking. Freak barked again, Max stopped and said "Shut up boy you'll attract unwanted attention." Freak started to growl at the window. Max just shook his head and continued on.
He opened the door, walked out only to find a street full of diseased. Max's bad luck began to get worse as all the diseased started to notice him and look in his direction. Max nodded his head, "Okay, I think I might stay inside for a bit." Max quickly jumped in the door and slammed the door behind him.
The diseased all started sprinting towards the house. Some jumped at the windows but they didn't seem powerful enough to break through it. Max watched in horror. The window cracked, and it kept on cracking. Max knew he had to leave. Freak was in the kitchen barking, so that's where Max went, and that was also where Max found a note on the bench. "Of course, she would expect me to come to the kitchen first." Then he heard the window shatter and fall.
Max shoulder barged through the back fence, climbed through, then noticed the gate. It was to late to use it so he kept on running along the back street of Abigail's house. Freak was following just a few metres behind. Night was coming quickly. Max was hungry, tired and upset. He was headed towards his old house where he planned to eat, cry then sleep.
He arrived at the house. He entered and made sure that everything was safe and secure then found his old bedroom. He made the bed and prepared a quick snack. He ate up then went to bed, falling asleep instantly due to how tired he was.
