I rubbed my eyes and yawned, annoyed with my incompetence. Midoriya is going to be terrified of me. He probably thinks I'm some creep... but still, part of me couldn't fight the blood that rushed through me when I thought about what happened last night.
Something I liked about the newer dorms was the individual bathrooms, each with a shower. I smiled to myself thinking about the expensive showerhead that made the water feel like a mere sprinkle of rain. The showers back home were, to say the least, less gentle. But as soon as my eyes glanced at the time, I knew it would have to wait. I was extremely late. I pulled on my uniform and slammed my door open, my tie hanging in a crumpled mess on my chest, still undone. I knew my hair couldn't have been any better, but priority number one was making it to the school building as soon as I could.
It seems fate had it out for me, as Izuku, with his eyes wide and hair bushy, looked in shock at me from his dorm's doorway. He chuckled.
"K-kegeru-kun! Are you okay?" He swung a satchel over his shoulder, and I noticed he wasn't in uniform. He wore a sweatshirt labeled "hoodie" on the front and fitted black jeans that complemented his figure. I could feel the flutters in my stomach as I looked at him.
"I'm late for class, aren't you too?" I questioned, while desperately running my hands through my hair in a last ditch attempt to make myself presentable.
He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
"You must not know about today, then," he said softly, "We have it off. It's a holiday. Pro Hero Day! There are sales going on in town and fireworks later tonight."
I sighed in relief. Well if I was free, I was probably just going to sleep the day away. I apologized for my stupidity and went back into my room quickly. I couldn't believe he saw me like that. Great, this is now the second time I've looked ridiculous in front of him. I slid my back against the door and plopped down in a flustered heap on the floor, holding my head in my hands.
"U-um.... Fuji-chan...can I call you that?" Midoriya's voice mumbled from the door's other side. I jolted at the sound. "Well, if you aren't busy, maybe you could come with me? I mean... it would be lonely to go alone, and...well... we could have fun! As new friends!"
I sat in silence a while before answering.
"Sure, I mean, I don't have anything else to do. Just let me change," I said, grabbing some of my more casual clothes.
We left together, the rest of the building being quiet and empty. Midoriya informed me they all already left. I guess him and I both slept in. We walked side by side into town, the sun bright in the sky and the bustling sound of the city flooding our ears. His face was shaded by a cute ball cap we wore, but his freckles and eyes still lit up his face. And even though my heart was pounding and I was nervous out of my mind, I knew with him here, I would a great time, even if I was normally opposed to social events. As I looked at his face, I couldn't help but smile.
