Heads up! I've decided to make it a little interesting and switch up the point of views! Tell me what you think! This is personally one of my favorite chapters that I've written so far. And it's a little long, but who's complaining! Hope you enjoy and please vote for it!

Astrid's pov:
Their chief slaps me across the face, whipping my head to the side. I glare up into the crowd and make eye contact with a stranger in a cloak. I send him the most hateful glare, but he doesn't return the disgust. Instead he stares back with kind eyes. I scrunch up my nose in confusion and look away before he could see me hesitate.
The memory of the stranger plays over and over in my mind as I fight to stay awake in the dark dungeon cell they threw me in. I'm sitting back against a corner on the hard dirt floor. It's cold and dark, and the only light is a faint glow from a torch in the hallway that leads to my cell. I'm defenseless, thirsty, hungry, and freezing cold since they ripped my fur hood off of my clothes and took my fur boots away. I refused to tell them my name so they call me Hera, which is the most ridiculous name I have ever heard! I have scratches up my legs and on my arms from them dragging me to the dungeon. A nasty bump formed on the back of my head when they threw me in here against the wall. I reach my fingers back and wince as I touch a sticky warm substance.
Then there's the fact that word has traveled to me that Hiccup was left dead in the cave. I don't believe them. I won't. Even though he was in bad condition when I left, and the other guy that I assumed stood behind to face Hiccup was twice his size. No he can't be dead. I have to get out of here, but the few times that I've tried to escape I just end up back in here with more injuries than before.
My head snaps up to the sound of footsteps heading towards my cell. I put on the nastiest snarl as a guard shows up on the other side of my cell.
"Still think your "hero" is alive, huh?" He snarls.
"He's not dead, and he's gonna come back here and slit all your throats with his bare hands," I threaten, knowing that Hiccup isn't that violent, but I am.
An evil laugh slips from the mans lips as he pulls something from behind his back.
"Think again."
He throws something through the bars of the cell. I don't realize the guard leave as I stare at what's in front of me. I don't hold back the sobs that erupt from my chest as I pick up the object.
Hiccups helmet stares back at me with a splash of blood stained on the edge.
I sink to the floor, the last of my hope slipping away.

I snap awake with a start. I sit up and rub the remaining tears out of my eyes. I cried myself to sleep. It's still dark throughout the dungeon except for the faint flicker of the torch in the hallway. I hear nothing. What woke me up? I try to focus on the silence more. Suddenly I flinch at the sound of an explosion somewhere up near the entrance of the dungeon. Then a guard sprints past my cell and I jump up on my feet, standing up against the cell door in an instant. I can hear muffled yelling in the distance. Then the sound of footsteps approaching my cell door echoes off of the stone walls. I ease away from the door and watch as someone slides to a stop right in front of my cell. He's wearing a dark cloak covering his form, hiding his face from me.
"You must be Astrid," he say in a low energetic voice.
"How do you-"
"No time to explain," he throws a pair of fur boots through the bars and they land at my feet. I quickly shove them on my feet, never breaking eye contact with the guy.
"Come on let's get you out of here." He whips out a set of keys and opens my door in seconds. Before he can even blink I have him shoved against the wall with my arm slightly chocking his throat.
"Who are you?" I demand.
"A friend! I swear! I'm trying to help you," he chokes out under my grip.
"Why should I trust you?"
"I- I'm Hiccup's friend!"
My grip loosens the tiniest bit from the mention of his name, but I snap back and push the guy harder against the wall.
"He's dead," my voice cracks.
"No he's not! Please! Let- let me explain!" He's breathing with more urgency as I push harder on his throat. I release my grip a little bit so he could talk.
"He told me to, to tell you that he's not leaving without you because you're his other half," he coughs out. I gasp as I'm taken back to the time he told me that. It was a while before he became chief. We were sleeping together in eachother's arms when I suddenly woke up from a nightmare. A horrible nightmare about Hiccup forgetting about me when he became chief someday. He stroked my hair softly as he calmed me down, telling me that I'm his other half and that he would never leave me behind.
I snap back to reality and quickly release my grip, causing the guy to lean over and cough. Hiccup is alive! The thought makes my heart beat for a purpose. After a few seconds the guy leans up and makes eye contact with me. Instead of fear in his eyes I saw a childlike excitement.
"Now that we got that out of the way, I'm Patch, and I'm gonna get you back to lover boy," he says with a grin. He throws me a dark cloak that I throw on me. I sigh as the warmth of the thick fabric surrounds me, and I pull the hood over my head. Patch grabs his bow that was laying on the floor and gestures with his head to follow him. Then we're running through the dungeon halls towards the stairs that lead to the village above.
