Ella Mason, only daughter of Erik and Ilse Mason, muggles. Not saying I don't love my parents, but life would be much easier if they were, you know, wizards.

I'm pretty much used to Hogwarts, now that I'm moving onto my sixth year. It was less hard every year having to come back, leaving my family behind for months at a time. Gryffindor was my home, and my family were Molly and Lacey, my best friends. They weren't my only friends, though. Hermione, Ron and Harry are close friends. I'd never really been a part of their tightly knit group, but I was closer than most people were to them. After all, Hermione did need a girl-friend every now and then, especially with advice on Ron, and how to handle Malfoy when he called her "mud-blood". Six years here and he still hadn't come up with a better name to call her. I guess he didn't need one, as it hurt Hermione all the same every time.

I walked to the common room for breakfast with Molly and Lacey, but then departed with them once we got there, because they were in Hufflepuff. I went and grabbed a seat by Hermione. First day of school, so we had loads to talk about and catch up on. Ron, Harry, Ginny, and Neville greeted me with smiles.

"Hey mud-blood, learn any new spells over the summer!" Draco Malfoy shouted at Hermione.

Hermione just sat there, face red as the apple she had just bit into.

I stood up and threw a muffin, which hit him square in the face. His look: priceless.

"MASON! MALFOY! DETENTION!" Snape called out at us as the room silenced. First day of school and I already earned myself a detention. Wonderful.

The rest of the breakfast period Malfoy and his motley crew sent glares my way.

"Did you really throw a muffin at his face?" Molly asked me after our classes. Molly was like a puppy dog, always excitable and peppy. She was the caring, loving girl, who would make a great mother someday. She also looked like a puppy, with dark brown eyes and hair to match.

"I saw you hit him! It was hilarious, everyone at Hufflepuff was geeking out!" Lacey said. Lacey Masters was a true blue girly girl. She always was worrying about how she looked, but was a great poet, and loved to read. She had sparkly green eyes, and light blonde hair, which was short, just above her shoulders.

"Yeah, he deserved it though."

"I bet! Hey do you want us to walk you down to Snape's room?" Lacey replied.

"No, I'll be ok guys. See you later?"

"Yeah, you have to tell us how detention goes," Molly said.

I split off from my friends and descended the stairs to Snape's dungeon classroom, awaiting the punishment for hitting a death eater with a muffin. Malfoy was already in the room when I got there. I sat down at the table farthest from him. He glared, and if looks could kill, I'd have been dead a long time ago.

"Do you have a staring problem?" I asked him.

No reply.

"How did that muffin taste, Malfoy?" I asked him, smirking.

"You think you're worthy of talking to me? Filthy mud-blood." He said spitting his words out disgustingly.

"Wow, it's amazing how good you think you are. If you fell off your ego and landed on your IQ, I think that'd be commitung suicide," I said obviously pissing him off.

Snape walked in the room, flustered. "You two need to go, I have to take care of something, you may serve your detention another time." He walked back out of the room.

I walked out, leaving Malfoy in the room by himself. I swiftly walked through the hallway, ignoring the footsteps rapidly increasing as I continued. I slyly pulled out my wand and held it at my side, waiting for the steps to get closer. When I assumed they were a few feet behind me, I spun.

"Expelliarmus!"

His wand fell to the ground.
