**Draco**
"Mason?" I asked her.
"Mrrpphmm," she groaned. I think she was going to pass out. I stood up and brushed myself off. Most of her stuff didn't scatter. I pushed her things next to her and began to gather my things. After I did that I'd go see Hagrid. But I couldn't just leave her here, could I? I looked at her. Her nose was pretty banged up, and she had a decent amount of blood down her shirt. I'd have to take her to the hospital wing.
"Ella, Ella, wake up," I said, tapping on her shoulder. She was out cold. I set my bag down. I guess I was going to have to carry her. I picked her up, bridal style, with one arm under her back and the other under her knees. The hospital wing was all the way on the third floor, so hopefully I would see someone on the way up to help me. I had gone all the way to the 2nd floor without seeing a single person. My arms began to grow tired and stiffen.
"One more floor to go, Draco," I whispered to myself as I ascended the last flight of stairs. I pushed open the double doors to the hospital wing and laid her down on a cot.
"Madam Pomrey?" I yelled, taking a few more steps into the infirmary.
"Yes," she said, coming out of her office.
"She ran into me," I said pointing at Ella. She was a mess.
"Oh, dear. You may go, thank you," She said walking over to Ella.
I turned around and walked out of the infirmary. I suppose I was going to have to tell Snape about her accident. The last thing I needed was more detention. I re-routed to where she hit me at the bottom of the stairs, and gathered my stuff-well, at least what I could find. I left her stuff there, I'd already done enough for her. . .
**Ella**
I opened my eyes, to see Hermione lurking over me.
"Ella, are you okay?" she asked me, the look of worry entering her face.
"Mmm, yeah I think, what happened?" I asked her, rubbing my face, feeling my nose, which had been healed by Madam Pomfrey.
"I think you ran into someone-"
"Yeah I ran into Malfoy, I hit my nose on his shoulder, but how did I get up here?" I interrupted her, sitting up in the bed.
Hermione looked at Madam Pomrey.
"That blonde boy carried you. I can't think of his name, umm-"
"Malfoy?" I questioned, praying to God it was someone else. Please let it be anybody else.
"Yes, yes, that boy. He seemed pretty concerned, too. You might want to find him to tell him you're okay," she said as she folded some towels.
"Ughhh," I groaned. Wonderful. Now I had to apologize and thank him! And I missed detention, so I was going to have to make that up. I pulled my pillow over my face. "Do you want me to take you to the rooms?" Hermione asked me as I stood up.
"No, I'll be fine." I was more embarrassed than anything. Just another thing for Malfoy to hold over my head.
"Alright, then I'm going to head down to breakfast," She said walking to the doors with me.
"See ya," I said, heading up the stairs.
"Bye."
I went straight up to the bedroom. I pulled open my trunk and pulled out a clean uniform. I grabbed my shower bag and headed to the bathroom. I took a good look at myself in the mirror, with my mascara rubbed around my eyes, dried blood around my nose, and a major bedhead going on. I combed through my hair before taking a quick, hot shower, washing all the thoughts of last night away - what I could remember at least. I wrapped myself up in a clean, warm towel and once again looked in the mirror. The shower could wash away everything but the embarrassment. I quickly got dressed and headed to breakfast.
"Ella!" Seamus yelled, waving me over. I hiked over to him, and he embraced me in a hug. I was facing the Slytherin table. I caught Malfoy's glance. He wasn't showing off his glare, but had a look of sorrow, of jealousy, like he was supposed to be the one getting the hug from me. I looked away. That reminded me. Unfortunately, I had to talk to him.
"What happened?" he asked me, as he pulled away.
"Uhh, fell. I guess I hit my head pretty hard." I lied. If Seamus found out I ran into Draco he'd be pissed, and then we'd really have a problem.
"Klutzy." he smiled.
I stuck my tongue out at him.
We sat down and had some pancakes. I love Hogwarts' pancakes, but my mother makes the best pancakes. Ever.
"Ella!" Lacey and Molly were coming.
"Hey," I said, turning around to face them.
"Hey, we heard you were in the infirmary last night," Lacey said. "What happened?"
"I fell and hit my head, I'm fine, don't worry," I continued, shoving a pancake in my mouth.
"Oh, well, you can tell us the whole story on Friday, you're sleeping over in Hufflepuff." Molly said.
"Demanding, are we?" I said.
Molly rolled her eyes and laughed, and they went back to their table.
"Hey, I grabbed your bags last night," Seamus said, pulling them up from under the table.
"Thanks." I grabbed them from him and set them on the bench next to me.
The food disappeared, letting us know that it was time for class. The expressions on Ron and Harry's faces were priceless.
I stood up. "Hey, I'll see you later, I gotta see Snape about detention," I told Seamus.
"Be careful, don't let the stairs attack you again," he teased.
I rolled my eyes, and carefully moved down to Snape's office.
Malfoy was in there. I looked around. No Snape.
"Hey, this is going to sound amazingly stupid, but sorry for running into you and thanks for taking me up to the hospital wing," I said all in one breath.
He didn't glare or insult me, but he didn't say 'you're welcome' or 'no problem'. It was a start. He nodded. I sighed. "Kay, bye." I said, frustrated, feeling like I had just wasted my time. I hustled up the stairs to my first class. The rest of the day went by fast, including detention with Hagrid. In fact, the rest of the week went by fast, until finally Friday rolled around. I met up with Lacey and Molly before dinner. We strode down to the Hufflepuff common room, where we dropped off our stuff. I was going to get my own bed, since one of the other Hufflepuff girls was staying with a Ravenclaw.
"Why did you guys want me to stay over so bad?" I said, diving into Molly's massive amount of pillows on her bed.
"We have to tell you something. An important something." Lacey said with a serious look on her face.
"Like what?" I said, sitting up, crossing my legs. I was eager to hear what they might have to share.
They exchanged nervous glances.
"Well, you know how on the train ride here, when we met, we'd promised we'd tell each other everything, no matter how much it'd hurt each other?" Molly said.
"Yeah," I was starting to get worried. What did they know that I didn't?
"Well. Um, how do I put this? Seamus, is cheating on you." Lacey continued.
"Cheating on me? We've only kissed once, it's only been like a week." I said in disbelief, getting up off the bed. We had barely spent any time together, nor were we "together", but it hurt to hear that there was someone else, nonetheless. "I'll be back." I said shaking my head. I walked out through the common room and into the dark hall. Tears began to flood my eyes. I wasn't crying because I liked him, I was upset because I felt betrayed by someone who had promised to always show loyalty to me. I was crying because I couldn't stand being used like that.
I turned a corner and plowed into something. Someone.
