Celestina's POV

I woke up as the front door made a screech when it was being opened creepily. I fell back into the couch, calmly. I could guess who it was. Confirming my thoughts, I heard multiple whispers and a small crash. Footsteps echoed throughout the hallways.

If they wanted to be stealthy, they should train for a few years. Maybe then, they can open doors without a commotion. I didn't move from the couch, too lazy to shout at them. The gang is here. "You should be spies, I'm sure they would appreciate your stealth skills." Asshole is here. I'd recognize the snarky comments anywhere.

"We are so stealthy that we are hee-yaa ninjas." Jake giggled. They need to atleast try. The lack of effort is insulting. "Sure, I could hear you all from the driveways. I'm sure Wicked Witch of the West is sleeping soundly after the ruckus you made." I rolled my eyes. Wicked is a pretty cool nickname. It's more complimentary than insulting, asshole.

"We can tell her that we were worried or something. Now, just all of you, calm down. And search for her." Carlotta's voice resonated. Feeling exhilarated, I slipped away from the couch and rolled away. It was dark outside and inside. With my dark clothes, I practically looked camaflouged against the dark background.

Someone fumbled with the light switches. I rolled behind the couch, crouching. They stomped their way around the living room. Jake made a beeline to the kitchen and helped himself to the food. Typical. Carlotta and Alec got distracted by talking to each other in the other room.

I moved away behind a wall into the terrace. Lucy led the way upstairs. Michael stayed respectfully at the door. Alena was missing. Asshole was leaning against a wall. What was I missing here? Why?

I sneaked back near a window and reached for my phone. I saw the texts which confirmed what I feared. They just crashed my house because they wanted to. Why am I friends with them? If I hid here, they would never find me, by the looks of it. They have pretty much settled in the kitchen. Except Michael and.....

I nearly dropped my phone. Luca had enclosed me against the wall. "Isn't this a bit clichéd and overdone?" I leaned back, relaxed. "You mean, this proximity to me doesn't make you nervous?" He asked me even though he knew the answer. I stifled a smile. "This might be the first time you haven't brought up the fact that you think you are hot."

"My bad." He moved away and stood next to me, shoulder to shoulder. I looked at him when he looked straight. "Doesn't it make you nervous just being around such an attractive person?" He corrected himself. I looked away, trying hard not to smile. Ugh, throw up. My mind quipped.

"Soooo, you aren't gonna give me up to the world's worst ninja warriors." I continued. Why?  He laughed. "They will never find you. It can stay that way."

"We should go inside. It's cold." I wanted to make a Narnia joke about my house but decided against it. Why am I being awkward? Think. We both got together at the same time and bumped into each other. We brushed it off and laughed. Why are we being like normal friends? Think.

The gang helped themselves to all the food and forced me to host a movie night. Why am I being punished?  Girls surprisingly won the vote and played a musical movie. Most of the boys passed out and so did the girls. I didn't wanna bother with carrying them to the room.

"Are you still watching?" "Are you still watchi—" Luca and I asked at the same time. "It's just few minutes, let it run out." He suggested. Why am I lingering? Why is he? Think.

I finally got the meaning of the phrase, 'The air was thick with tension.' Luca's phone lit up and he was busy texting. I was creepily watching him. Things have been a little awkward between us, since the time we met outside alone. Weird.

Really, was it weird? My mind popped up. Who called my mind into this? I was so happy till now. Because you were with Luca. My mind continued. Nobody asked you. I'm you, you are me. So....... My mind retorted.

"Before we go for Winter break, we should complete the Psychology project. You did the individual work, right?" Luca interrupted my inter-monologue. "Yeah, we need to discuss the details of how we present it and put the finishing touches." I replied after a while.

"It's a few hours work, right?" He inquired. I nodded and I realized it was dark and he couldn't see. Idiota. "Shut up." I mumbled.

"What?" "Nothing, just few hours." I changed the topic. What if he suggests you spend time with in your own house or takes you to his house? Takes advantage of your hospitality? My mind made my grave. So, he is trying to kill me or assault me. What is genuinely wrong with me?

"Professor suggested a book for our project, it's in the college library. Text me when you are free. We'll meet there." He proposed the idea which effectibely shut my mind. "We are in my house now....." I trailed off. Why? Think.

He scoffed lightly and looked away. "Do you plan on making me disappear forever?" I rolled my eyes at him. "I can feel you roll your eyes. Glad to know you aren't planning my demise at the moment." He continued. "Don't tempt me."

Now, Luca looked at me with a teasing smile. "You think you can get away with my murder." He tilted his head ever so slightly. He looked confident and ever so smug. He believes I can't get away with murder. "You don't know me at all. Can you make that assumption?"

"You don't know me either. Can you make any assumption?" His face lost the smile and he looked somber. He averted his gaze. "We don't know each other that well. So, it is a bit rude for me take advantage of your hospitality." His voice sounded light unlike before.

"If you did, I would have hit you." I threatened him. He raised his hands in surrender. "I believe you." Think.

"It's late. We should retire to the bed." I motioned him upstairs. "I can go home with them." I waved him off. "I stayed in your home so you stay in mine. It's late. They can sleep here."

We walked upstairs side by side. He looked like he was searching for something. "What are you looking for?" He looked back at me. "No pictures?"

"It's been a few months, almost a year. Doesn't feel like it, though. Family is back home." I shrugged it off. "I don't have pictures either and its almost two years. Just a year and few months left for college to end. We will all go our separate ways anyway." He noted.

"Right." I led him to the room opposite to mine. WoW! My mind popped back. Ugh, stop talking. Maintain radio silence, please. "Hey, you okay?" He queried. I waved him off. "Tired." Not even a bit. The nap threw me off. He has secrets that would require unraveling and I can't fall into that trap.

I entered my room before he can question further. My phone buzzed.
