Celestina's POV
I walked into the class room. The professor was in already. I was a bit late. I barely payed attention to the class. I could learn it later. I was bit befuddled about his sudden behaviour. He just seemed so normal, sinking into the background, part of the social life.
Now, he stood out more than he already he did. He was more smarter than he let on. Or even showed. This isn't high school with the most typical clichés. They actually portrayed different characters. They actually had a soul. They had a life. Meaningful or not, depends on every perception.
Bliss wasn't so shallow and dense as she seemed. Contrary to popular opinion. She was manipulative and well-informed.
Alena seemed so optimistic that you forget that she has a dark past. She was reserved and easily changed the subject.
Jake kept a secret that he was so scared to reveal because he feared that he would destroy his peer group now.
Michael just was a silent person, not shy. People are often mistaken by him.
Derek reminded me of a ticking bomb. Filled with self-preservation and repressed anger, he might just blow up.
Carlotta wasn't what I expected. She grew, obviously. But more maturely. Accepting her role but judging others for doing the same.
Alec was so obsessively in love with Carlotta. I could read him, clear as a day. He was impulsive and careful. I didn't know how he coexisted with himself. There was him. I don't even remember his name. I always remembered. He is the one I've had the most interaction with, yet he was the biggest mystery. He was a puzzle. For the first time, I'm afraid of the answer.
He is not who he says he is. Who does he say he is? Who the hell is he? The bell rang. I pushed my thoughts in a box and forgot all about it. I hadn't seen any one of them since the morning. "Hey, Celeste."
I stopped, recognizing the voice. I didn't turn around, she came to me. She had to go the way I was going. Alena smiled as soon as she reached beside me. "Hey!" I nodded, feeling unsure.
Taking a breath in, I smirked a little. "Hey!" I mimicked her back. We began coursing through the crowd. She punched my shoulder. She winced. Harder than intended, I guess. I didn't feel it but I gave a hurt look. Rubbing my shoulder, I swatted her hand away lightly.
Much to my chagrin, she seemed to a little pleasure in my pain. I said nothing, throwing the thought into the box. "What's for lunch?" She made small talk. I rolled my eyes. "Bibbidi bobbidi boo. Oh, wait where is my magic wand and powers?" I muttered back to her.
She laughed. It was thrilling sound that sounded so heartbreakingly beautiful. Her best feature would be her smile and laugh. Very disorientating at the beginning. You need to look past it, her eyes spoke millions.
"I'm just asking, you know. Small talk. It's common among friends. Especially ones who are your future child's godmother." I groaned, good naturedly. She will never give this up, will she?
"God, no." She laughed with cruel twist in it. "I mean, I know the child is going to be cute. Girl has your hair and boy had black hair, obviously your soulmate's. I can't decide between your icy blue eyes and his darkish blue eyes." She continued. I barely listened.
"Sapphire blue eyes." I corrected her and immediately knew it was a mistake. Should have let her babble on forever. She giggled, poking my shoulder with her fingers. She was so much more shorter than me. I wanted her to be bug sized, so I can squash her and be free of her.
"Aw, sweetheart. I knew true love would win over." I smiled despite myself. I shook my head, trying not to encourage her. "I mean, your wedding will definitely look rich. I will be there. Cheering you on to marry the guy you hated once, but come to love." I looked at her with a deadpan look. She shrugged.
"I don't know much about weddings." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, that is what is bothering me." She continued to visionize my wedding with asshole. I stopped listening. I looked around the lockers. He wasn't there. Did he leave already?
I had my psychology books with me. I just entered the cafe with Alena. It was buzzing. People still whispered and looked over. No longer gossiped or stared. I guess, Bliss's immature fight was all forgotten. For the better.
He wasn't there in the table. Alec was there, taking animatedly to some fake redhead. Not our original redhead. I guess, they are experiencing lovers/friends spat. Carlotta looked bitter. She was family. Every instinct wanted to protect her but I knew she could take care of herself.
Jake was missing too. I made a note and took my seat silently on the table. Lucy waved softly. Michael nodded. I guess, he likes me? Derek gave me a huge smile. Alec ignored me. Intentionally.
He always watched curiously at me. What changed? He loved around and talked the same if not more to me. He always asked my family and likes and dislikes. Did I finally wear out his patience and curiosity with my dry answers? The fake redhead smiled widely as he conversed with her.
The redhead near me began looking more tensed than before. I realized why. The fake redhead placed her hand on his shoulder, leaning forward much to her pleasure. A bit of discomfort fluttered into his green eyes. They had disappeared as quick as they had arrived.
It wasn't ruining my appetite bit it was definitely ruining everyone else's. I thought about it for a moment and decided it was appropriate thing to do.
"Alec." My voice drawled with effect. The appropriate amount of relax and restraint. It could've sounded like a warning or a threat. I couldn't read his mind
He looked surprised that I had even spoken. The fake redhead whipped her head around, glaring at me. I wasn't bothered. He blinked once and twice. He gave a timid smile.
"Where is he?"
