Celestina's POV

"Where is he?"

Alec couldn't have possibly looked any more lost than he did now. His eyes cleared with realization. He nodded to himself, assuring. What was he doing? His lips curled into a smug smirk.

"He's busy."

I raised my eyebrow and leaned against my chair cautiously. He watched me like a predator watching a prey. "Funny." I countered back. Alec smiled with a hint of happiness and exasperation. "Why are you so bothered? Should I call him to tell him that you miss him dearly?" His question seemed to revoke a round of laughter.

My eyes flared up with evident anger but I supressed it. I smiled sarcastically. Tilting my head, I answered, "Next time, he decides to take me up as his messenger, tell him I will be bothered enough to take his message and shove it up-" Lucy cleared her throat to stop me short.

Alec just seemed more amused by my actions. Ignore him, like the asshole. "Anyway, we have our psychology project with our partners. Who did you get?" Lucy continued. There was a series of in-between-conversations I didn't listen to. I was slightly distracted.

"So who did you get?" I know this question was directed to me. I looked up see Alec gazing at me expectantly. Why is he asking me? Why him? "Uh, I'm not really sure-" I was again interrupted by Lucy again. She started speaking with wide eyes.

"You know, we were odd numbers ao some group would be three in number. Celeste would have had Bliss as an additional." She spited out her horrifying news. Derek, who wasn't listening because he couldn't keep up, questioned her. "Why would she be bliss as an additional? Is that an extra project?"

Everyone around the table face palmed themselves. Jake threw his water bottle on Derek and explained what she meant by Bliss. "Why didn't she?" Derek asked again. Alena groaned, "Who cares?" While Lucy replied, "She obviously doesn't want to be with Celeste and some nerd boy as she put it."

"Were you listening to her talk?" Carlotta asked after a long silence on her part. "I had no choice, she was right beside me. Nerd boy for blonde beauty Celeste and some hot jock for her. She couldn't find Luca today so she didn't make a move." Lucy pressed on.

Something clicked in my mind. Luca, I heard this name before here, was my favourite name. There must be soemone here who is named that. He is my partner for the project, I couldn't find him. Why does Lucy speak of him with so much recognition and authority? Does she know him?

"Who is your nerd partner anyway?" Jake questioned.

"That Luca guy, do you guys know him?" My words faltered when I say everyone look at me. Even the forgotten fake redhead. "So you do know him?" Their faces looked comical that I secretly took a picture for research purposes.

Alec smiled again. Why is he so goddamn smug? "Remember the person who we were talking about, who you oh-so-kindly threatened. The person you have been fighting since the dawn of the world? Do you know his name?"

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that he is talking about the person who has been attached to my mind for quite some time. Holy shit!

"You have got to be fucking kidding me. Do you think it is funny?" I muttered through my teeth. I was clenching my fist so hard that it was bruising. And they had the guts to laugh. I moved forward to grab my phone which vibrated with messages.

Alex

I shook my head at his timing. Does he read minds? I looked up at my friends? And waved them a goodbye. Alec was smug enough to send a smirk my way. I flipped him on my way out.

Tina: I need information on someone.

Alex: I'm gonna need more than someone.

Tina: Shut up, I'll send you the details by the end of the day.

Alex: Isn't it I who is supposed to do that?

Tina: .......

Alex: Okay. Text me

I switched off my phone. And threw at the back of my car. I drove our of the college, ignoring the nagging feeling inside me.

Luca's POV

My phone dinged loudly, indicating my new messages. Annoyed, the people around me watched me disapprovingly. I didn't really care about what they thought. But it wasn't good manners to use phones in front of them. I've been told way too many times.

Alec knew better than to text me like a normal millennial. What was so important?

Opening the app, watching their still disapproving gaze, I saw one word. My heart leaped. Control came easily, why isn't it now?

I left the room altogether, just to read the message. I could feel the disappointment from the other room. It barely stung me.

My hands tingling, I read the message again. Laughter bubbled inside me.

She didn't know my name. She always knew me as asshole. She really didn't know my name. I knew she was my partner, that's why I told her I wasn't going to there.

'Liar, not even close.' My mind taunted.

She had asked about me, where I was. Maybe not in a intended way, but she asked. My heart leaped again.

'What was the intended way?' My mind continued.

Pushing the thought deep inside that it vanished, I made my mind up. I texted Alec back.

Luca: Need information on someone.

Alec: Is it who I think it is?

Luca: Not necessarily.

Alec: You know I have read that a way to a girl's heart is not to have her checked out for criminal background.

Luca: Of course, you would know. Don't overestimate her value in my life. She is nothing but a distraction.

Alec: Really? Is that why you are replying to message regarding her during a family meeting?

Luca: .......

Alec: Take some time, let me know by the end of the day. Text me.

I contemplated my answer and was about to send him my decision. I heard someone clearing their throat, Casper turned about in the corner, staring at me. "You are smiling."

He left and I realized my control is out of my hand.
