Chapter 8

A Brother's Love

I stayed away from Tommy as best I could, but the apartment was just so small it was pretty much impossible. It also didn't help that Tommy is ALWAYS around Lenin. I couldn't even get close enough to hug Lenin without being glared at by Tommy. I didn't understand why Tommy hated me so badly. Lenin also tried his best to avoid Tommy, but having the same problem I was.

Hearn said he would walk me to school today. I pull my backpack on and made my way towards Lenin. I open my arms to give him a hug and Tommy stepped in the way so I ended up hugging him. I didn't know what to do at that point. I didn't have long to think about it since Tommy shoved me back and I hit Hearn's chest which seemed to grow bigger every time. I wonder what he does to get so big. I frown and pick up one of my hands to wave Lenin goodbye. He nods and Hearn takes me outside.

Seeing the school again made me want to curl up in a ball and disappear. I wipe my sweaty hands on my new jeans and kept my head down trying to avoid all the weird looks I was getting. Actually, it wasn't me getting the looks. It was Hearn. He towers over everyone here. Maybe that's why they are staring at him.

"Hey, shorty." A deep booming voice made its way through the crowd and Dusk came into view. He was around the same exact height as Hearn. "Who is this?" he nodded toward Hearn who was too busy looking at my schedule trying to figure out the way to my first class.

"..." I didn't know how I could tell him that Hearn is my brother. So I just stood there thinking of a way to answer him.

"Brother?" He asked making me nod. "They look exactly the same so I assumed." He took the paper from Hearn's hands.

Hearn dropped his hands and looked Dusk up and down. "And you are?" he asked. Dusk threw an arm over my shoulder and grinned.

"I'm this kid's best friend, thanks for bringing him to school, but I can take it from here." Dusk grinned patting my back a little too hard for my own liking. I wanted to push him back and tell him not to be so rough with me. Being the little sensitive shorty I was, I didn't do anything.

"Hm, I think I will stick with him." Hearn told Dusk taking the schedule back and my hand. "Come on the Language Art's building is this way." I followed Hearn and Dusk followed me. All this and being stared at by what seemed like the whole school made me want to hide in a corner until it was time to go home.

"Dusk!" A very pretty looking girl walked up to us and she was followed by her own little group which I thought was weird that they all kind of looked the same. Blonde, blue eyes and very... short sundresses. Are they from the high school next door? She whispered something to Dusk and he rolled his eyes.

"Hey, dude." He called to Hearn, who looked back for just a second making a 'hm' sound. "These girls wanna suck your dick." The girl's eyes widened and they all start whacking him playfully. Hearn tugged my hand letting me know to keep walking. Which I did of course. I was a bit confused with what Dusk had said though.

"Don't listen to what people say. They are disgusting an impure." Hearn tells me stopping in front of a door. "I need to get registered with the high school next door so I'll eat lunch with you." I nod. Hearn is always so kind. I wrap my arms around him and smile to myself. I had come such a long way.

School wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. People hardly knew I was around and during lunch Dusk made me sit at his table. Even though I was there sitting on the same table the people there were too busy talking to Dusk to notice me. Yet, I felt relieved. Hearn joined in later sitting across from me I smile and lean over to 'talk' to him only to be blocked by the girls earlier. It kind of irritated me that I couldn't 'talk' to him so I just ate the lunch Lenin made for me silently. He had to slip it to me when Tommy was in the bathroom this morning.
