Spencer had started going to NA meetings whenever he needed to, hoping to get pressure off Liz and also help himself, obviously, and the couple couldn't be happier. The downside was during certain cases, Spencer tended to snap and lash out, but he made sure that he never said anything that would hurt Liz. After their fight, he didn't want to bring up or cause anything that could break them apart, he needed everything to run smoothly with them, even if Liz was going to yell at him for a good minute about how unsafe it was to walk into the middle of the road unarmed and face an unsub who had a massive gun.
Marceau Boucher had stuck around the building working in some kind of office, no longer training with Liz.
Another case came after, and Liz had a great time teasing JJ about her and Will's secret relationship.
The court room was quiet as Liz sat on the stand, slightly anxious as she awaited the questions hurled her way. The team were battling a case on whether a man was innocent or not because he claimed to have amnesia and not remember the murders.
"Agent Bundy, good to see you"
"Good to see you, too."
"So, through this process of linkage analysis, you concluded that all 3 murders were perpetrated by one man."
"Yes, that's correct."
"You believe that man is Brian Matloff?"
"Yes, I do."
"You were once a lawyer, prove your case to me. Tell me how you came to that conclusion and with what evidence?"
"Along with Agents Hotchner, Morgan and Doctor Reid we began to analyze the behavior of the unknown subject as manifested before, during and after the commission of the murders. Our goal was to generate a suspect pool, a list of names which we'd eventually narrow down to one person. How the killer gained satisfaction from his crimes. By burying the victims in the park, he was able to revisit the scene and relive his acts." Liz stated, growing slightly more confident.
"I imagine there are a lot of people who work for the forest service." Her confidence came crashing down. "And what did technical analyst Garcia do at that time?"
"We asked her to check names of forestry employees against a list of witnesses interviewed by the Roanoke police."
"And were you able to find a common denominator?"
"Yes. One, Brian Matloff." Matloff's lawyer stood up. Liz sighed in annoyance, she hated male lawyers which was ridiculous in a sense that a large sum of lawyers were male.
"Now, my client ran from the police, a behavior that you called a strong indicator of his guilt."
"Yes."
"Were you aware that he had an outstanding warrant at the time of his arrest?"
"Yes. I believe it was for an automobile accident, a hit and run."
"So isn't it possible that Mr. Matloff fled not because he was guilty of the murder but because of this other warrant?" Liz scoffed quietly.
"There were 8 law enforcement officers in bulletproof vests. I doubt that any person with even an ounce of common sense would presume-" She was interrupted by the lawyer.
"A yes or no answer will do." She grit her teeth. Annoying little bastard this lawyer was.
"Yes, it's possible."
"So, you've stated that it was your profile of the killer that led you and the police to my client's door that night."
"Behavioral analysis was a factor in our investigation."
