The Reids had taken the smallest vacation, staying at home. They were back in the office, accepting Garcia's gifts from London.
Spencer had gotten in touch with a doctor who prescribed medications that made his migraines go away completely.
"You know, Lizzy, in many ways the new is really like you." Garcia piped, referring to the new agent. "She was recruited when she was 24, you were like 21. Both of you are double majors, bureau stars. You both have a PhD." Everyone sent her pointed looks. "What? I did research on the plane! And my point is, clearly, she is smart and capable, and very much like our dear, dear, munchkin Lizzy, but is she as nice as our Lizzy?"
A certain brunette was behind Garcia. It was quite funny to watch the blonde stumble on her words when she realized before she introduced herself as Alex Blake. Alex shook Liz's hand.
"Elizabeth Reid. It's a" She sucked in a deep breath. "pleasure."

Liz didn't know why she felt herself being bitter towards the new agent during the case they worked together.
Was it because she was replacing her best friend?
Or maybe because she was so similar to her.
Either way, there was an unresolved tension between the pair.
It wasn't exactly too bad. They tended to avoid each other, avoid conversation, and when they did talk it was about work and only work. They could've taken nicer tones with each other. No one decided to comment on the coldness.
It was a Monday, and thankfully, the team had a day off the fully recover. Spencer and Liz were splayed on their sofa, books in hand and Downton Abbey reruns softly playing in the background as they waited for the time to pick up Diana from school while Lyle was with Garcia for the day.
Liz's ringtone broke the silence, muting itself when she answered the call. "Hi, mom."
"Is Spencer there, because if he is, could you put the phone on speaker?" She narrowed her eyes, putting the phone on speaker.
"Yeah, you've got both of us. What's up?"
"I was wondering if you'd do family dinner tonight at my house at 6." Spencer shrugged, nodding.
"Yeah, sure."
"Am I invited, too?" He chirped.
"Of course, you're" A brief interval awkward silence. "part of the family, Spencer."
"What's the occasion and who's coming?"
"No occasion. Just you, Spencer, the kids, Rose and your grandmother."
Liz grimaced. "Isn't grandma senile? She's like 88."
"Your grandmother isn't senile. Can you loop Rose into the call? I don't know how to work this new age tech." She complied, looping her sister in.
"Hey, bitch." Rose giggled along with her sister.
"Hi, bitch. Mom's on the line, wants family dinner tonight at hers at 6."
"Do you have to greet each other in such a vulgar way? Rose, are you coming tonight?"
"What's the occasion and who's coming besides Lizzy and her family?"
"Grandma's coming." Liz hollered.
"Isn't grandma senile?" Even Spencer couldn't help but burst into laughter. Carole just huffed.
