Chapter 22

"WHAT?!"

"I love you, Emily and we're good for each other. We've lived together for weeks and I fell in love with you. You're my wife."

"Cade, no...please, don't do this!"

"I'm sorry, Emily. We are going to Italy in the morning and your lover is going to walk outside. Both at the same time. How symbolic? New love leaving on their honeymoon and a traitorous fool gets to die."

"Cade, you can't...you can't be serious? You backstabbed me!" I cried.

George hadn't said a word. He just hung his head and stared at the floor.

"You agreed!" I shouted at the President.

"You agreed too. You agreed to give me no more problems and yet, here we are."

I started to sob. They were going to kill George.

I looked over at George and saw his shoulders shake. My heart stopped in my chest. He was hurting and I couldn't go to him to calm his fears.

The guards removed George from the apartment and the President turned to me before he left.

"Try anything stupid and I will push your ass outside myself."

He slammed the door behind him.

I looked at Cade.

"Thank you."

"He should be thrown off. He will let his guard down. I'll change the paperwork right before we leave tomorrow so he can't see the change with enough time to do anything about it."

"What would I do without you Cade Chase?"

"You would be living your life. You would be doing what you love. I just brought chaos."

"I will remember our chaos forever!"

We both laughed.

I was going to miss Cade.

At five in the morning, Cade got onto his laptop and corrected the paperwork. We were all set and heading towards the prison to get George out. His paperwork called for his release. It was the perfect plan.

Until we got to the promenade.

The President was standing on a podium in the promenade and George was standing next to him.

"This man is accused of treason! Treason against his President. Treason against the colony! Finding him guilty of all charges, we sentence him to death! He will walk outside on the surface!"

A cheer went through the crowd.

How could people be ok with this? Were we animals?

"Now what? How do we get George away from your father?"

"I don't know." Cade said.

"I do." A voice behind me said.

"Ren!"

"There has been a crime of treason but not by this man!" Ren called out and started to walk towards the podium.

"Who do you think you are, boy? I'm the President of this colony. He has been convicted."

Ten guards started to head towards the podium.

"It's over, Harry!"

Doctor Jensen was behind the guards.

Oh my god!

"You are under arrest." The guard who was normally at the President's side walked towards him.
