"Cade, what can I do for you to make you cooperate with Ms. Smith?" The President focused on his son.
"Nothing." He crossed his arms over his chest.
"Be an adult, Cade." The President looked angry.
"I am an adult. I made my own decision and you couldn't accept that." Cade spat.
What were they talking about? What decision?
"Enough! Ms. Smith is only here for a few weeks while you heal. Then you can sulk alone." The President grumbled.
The President got up to leave and I jumped up too. I wasn't entirely sure what protocol was.
"Fine!" Cade scoffed and tried to get up.
Instinctively I went over to help him.
His eyes blazed with anger as he looked at me. He all but swatted me away.
"Mr. Chase, please let me help you."
"Don't touch me!"
He struggled but was able to stand on his own.
I stood a few feet away in shock.
"I didn't teach you to speak to a woman like that!" The President was angry.
"I'm not having this discussion." Cade grumbled.
"Cade. Please, just let me help you." The President pleaded with his son.
"You've helped enough." With that Cade shuffled back into his room, leaving me alone with the president.
"He'll be ok. If he gives you any trouble, let George know. I'll take care of it. Thank you for your help, Ms. Smith."
The President left and I was alone in the living room.
What the hell was I going to do for hours on end stuck in this prison.
For days we managed to avoid each other. I left his medication on the kitchen counter and it was missing when I would go and check. Finally, I had to check his injuries. I was not looking forward to any physical contact with Cade but it was part of my job. I had to make sure he was healing properly.
I tried to ignore the cameras that were all over the apartment. Thankfully, I hadn't found any in my room.
I spent a good amount of my time in the kitchen cooking. George would bring me groceries whenever I asked. I would leave food out for Cade but he never touched it. I never saw him eat anything.
Nervously, I walked up the hallway to Cade's room and knocked on the door.
"Go away, Ms. Smith." He called from behind the door.
"I need to check your injuries, Mr. Chase." I tried to make my voice sound stern.
"Mt injuries are fine." He mumbled but I heard him get up and open the door.
The door flew open and he stood in front of me. He was only using one crutch, which was a good sign, medically.
His hair was disheveled and his blue eyes looked dull. He wasn't wearing a shirt and it was a glorious sight. He was all muscle. His muscles were straining to keep himself upright. I tried not to stare but I couldn't help it. He was an incredibly good-looking man. Too bad the outside didn't match the inside. In four days, he had not shown a lick of kindness.
"Um..uh, Ok." I mumbled, stumbling over my words.
He smiled.
It was the first time I saw him smile and it just made him even more good looking. His smile made his blue eyes shine.
