Chapter 07: Friends

Annika's POV

I was looking for some part time jobs when Kaira knocked.

"I forgot to say, Ginnie will be joining us in five days." She said as she grinned.

"That's a week early. But hell yes, I'm glad she's coming. Let's clean up her room tomorrow." I said as she nodded and left. I then texted Ginnie asking about her whereabouts and why on earth did she not tell me about this.

After few minutes, my phone rang. G, it said on the screen.

I picked up the phone and a long sorry rang through my ears. "It was supposed to be a surprise buddy." She confessed as I laughed.

"I'm not surprised. It's Kaira." I said as we both laughed together. 30 minutes passed in a jiffy. It was 11 so we both decided to talk later. I laid on the soft mattress and covered myself in blankets. Heaven!

I thought of today. And it had nothing but Ryan. What am I even doing? I know nothing about him but I'm thinking about him. I hate that I'm falling for him. Someone who knows nothing about me and may completely hate me after knowing me. I watched out of the window and looked at the buildings. They stood tall and straight. I turned towards the wall and closed my eyes, thinking about the only face my mind wants.

College, a place where people meet their best friends. But I met mine in middle school and I've been close with them since. The fact that my two best friends were in different high schools made it difficult for people to believe we were best friends. However, we're here now. Gin, a few days away and Kaira, a few seconds. I woke up early and cooked breakfast.

Kaira came out inhaling and smiling. I smirked and prepared the table. "Out in an hour." I said as she joined. She nodded and dug in.

I got ready and tied my hair into a pony. A simple t-shirt tugged in and a pair of wide jeans. I took a bus to college and bought a coffee at cafeteria.

I headed to my class as I saw Ryan walking in the opposite direction. He was looking down as usual and this time some girls were glaring at him. My eyes narrowed as I observed them. I felt jealous.

I should not feel that.

I went into the class and took the corner most seat on the left and Ryan took the one on the right. Except for there were some girls sitting beside him. I rolled my eyes and looked into my book as the professor taught. I jotted some points and the class was over. It was long and tough. I packed my things and got up.

I headed towards the library to return some books. I saw Ryan at the counter, speaking to the librarian. I went there and showed my card to her as she took a register out. I signed and returned the books.

"Annika?" Ryan called out. I looked at him. His face had some emotions this time.

"I uh, can we talk?" He asked and I looked at him, narrowing my eyes. Honestly, I think it's better untouched. However, I nodded and we walked out heading towards the next class. We had most of the classes together.

"Listen, I can't tell you everything about my life. It's the way I am. I was rude that day and I apologize for that. I regretted talking like that. I would love to still be your friend Annika. I don't have one honestly. I don't deserve you or your kindness. But I sincerely apologize." He said as he turned towards me. There was something wrong in what he told but I let it go. It wasn't going to be easy but I was curious. I sighed and looked at him.

"I don't want you to tell me each and every single thing about your life. I respect your privacy R. I got involved in that thing so I wanted to know what I was in. I totally understand if you don't wanna say about it." I said and he nodded, looking down.
