Episode 32

"That's true! So what should I do now?" I asked.

"About what?"

"About her case with this campus boy..."

"Oscar, I don't think that breaking up with Sweeney will even cost you much; you just need an airtime of two shillings, just to text her "it's over between us". It's that simple!"

"What if I give her another chance...?" I asked jokingly. However, Betty took it more seriously.

"What! Oscar!"

"I was just asking..."

"If you can't do that by yourself, then I'll do it for you. Remember I can make two of you become enemies within a minute. Don't think that am a fool...eeeh...you give what? Be serious my dear!" Betty said.

"Am sorry please. I'm not ready to lose you. I just want to show her that I'm aware she's already dating someone else so that I can cut myself off from her. Is that okay?"

"Yes! And let her not lie to you. I have evidence with me as well!"

Approaching evening, Betty got up, hugged me and she left for home. Sweeney wanted us to meet the same day but I had told her I was committed at home and we could not have that meeting.

At night, she called me but I had no moods of talking to her. Whenever I could see her call, my moods were turning upside down. However, thinking of the good times we had together could make me to at least, lend her one of my ears. After the call that lasted for about a minute, she texted.

"Hello Hun?"

"Hello." I was losing the meaning of calling her Hun or sweetheart or generally, being so romantic. It's like I never saw the second word of "Hun".

"Please I know have wronged you. But the truth is, am not Otis' girlfriend. And I can't just do that. I love you Oscar. Please don't lose trust on me."

"Why didn't you let me have your phone the other day we were together?" I asked, trying to bring the memories back to reality.

"Am sorry about that. It's only that I was angry at you...you know you forced me to be intimate when I was not prepared for that...I just felt bad."

"Okay. Am sorry for that." I said.

"You're forgiven my Love."

"Thanks. And let's chat in WhatsApp, I need to show you something." At the time she thought I was done with her, I wanted to open for her yet another case. I sent her the next screenshots that had her chats with her campus lover. The message got read as soon as it got delivered.

I saw her typing the reply. For three minutes, I was still waiting for her reply. "It's a whole passage!" I thought. However, a few minutes later, she stopped typing and she went offline. The only thing I could see was "last seen today at 22:37". I had to text her. "Hey, am waiting for your reply!"

The text never got delivered. She was already offline. I decided to make a phonecall which never went through. Her phone was off. I was sure she had switched it off. Some relationship stress tried to emerge, but I had to remind myself that already I had a very beautiful and loving lady, Betty. I wished Betty a lovely night and I got to cover myself warmly, to enjoy my night.

The following day, I got up to prepare myself for the journey back to campus. That day, Sweeney had called Betty for the way forward. She argued that Betty advised her to cheat on me.

"Betty, please I need you to do for me a favour." Sweeney began. It happened when they had not been talking for awhile since Christmas day.

"Yes Sweeney, which favour?"
